The Wand Company's are, pretty much. They laser scan the actual prop used and reproduce it identically. The 10th Doctor's one one is 100% spot on from what I can see, and the 12th doctors (11s, but 12 was still using it) has some very minor deviations from the prop.

I just realized something: This screwdriver looks exactly like the Tardis console room, the emitter being the main part and all the metal bits representing all the various switches, levers and buttons seen on the console. Its also Tardis blue so maybe we should start calling it the Tardis Screwdriver

I absolutely love this Sonic design. It is the most unique Screwdriver we've gotten from the Revised Series and fits Twelve's turn back to the more serious, original Doctors before the Time War.

The props originally had a five-position switch but when Character Options got a hold of the replicas they thought it was too complicated to use. They got the idea for double pressing the switch forwards or backwards. Then then the props were later tweaked to do the same thing except with the switch staying in place as before.

Um I'd like to point out something the people in the UK and in the US are both saying and pronouncing "Aluminum" or "Aluminium" correctly it is just spelled differently in each country "Aluminum" in the US is spelled with a "min" and in the UK its spelled with a "mini" so no matter how you say it both pronunciations are correct.

The US actually use the original spelling and pronunciation that the UK came up with. The extra I was added by Thomas Young in 1812 (36 years after the US became independent). He only did this to make it sound like other elements.

But it doesn't have the red setting that the actual prop has. And I really hope they eventually make use of the claws on 12's sonic, because they're obviously there for a reason. All that'd be needed is to roll the circular part to open the claws and... well, something should happen. Either the emitter section extends, or it could be ejected like the warp core in Star Trek.

An interesting note about the sizing, given how you said it was pretty close to the toy: The company that makes the toys (Is it still Character?) were actually given two of these Rubbertoe sonics (Which are obviously based on the original prop) to work off, which is why the toy is so much closer to the screen version than previous sonic toys.

Ease of replication. The 11th sonic contained both moving parts, complex shape, and revealing parts. The 12th sonic is a more simple design, no moving parts, or revealing parts. So it's pretty much an easy copy to do really.

While I agree with the fact that's it's much easier to replicate due to the lack of moving parts, I will say the design of this screwdriver is much more complex than 11's, what with the brackets, and the clamps, and various sizines of piping, and rings, and a gasket, and the emitter, amount of nerling and etc.

I for one am satisfied with the toy version since this sonic isn't my favorite, yet I do like it. It's more than enough for me to enjoy and be able to use should I decide to cosplay as Doctor Capaldi in the future. But Matt's sonic is my favorite even though I've given my remote a new paintjob to match one of Nick's custom designs. Love your reviews.

The only real problem with this replica is the switch, seeing as the switch on the prop is a 5 position switch, whereas this is a 3 position switch.

It was confirmed on a talk show, that this sonic actually has a red setting, why this wasn't included in the replica Is a good question

Wyndrin1234 I've seen the clip. Capaldi mentions that it is the prototype he is using with the activation wheel and the red setting. The replicas are based on the Series 10 props which have the sliding activation button and the blue and green light modes.

When I got the toy, and slide the slider twice on the spinning blue setting, the slider actually stand down and I recreated the scene where the twelfth doctor first gets his new sonic at the end of Hell Bent

Yet another awesome review mate! I absolutely loved it. I am not going to lie, I liked the new sonic design from the beginning. You want a bad design, look at the sonic sunglasses. I personally did not like them. Yeah, I was Capaldi, but I just feel that they were pointless and they got broken a couple of episodes later. This replica of Rubbertoe are so much expensive compare with the Wand Tv Remote screwdriver. If the people want the 12th doctor sonic screwdriver in metal/aluminium I recommend they wait. AnUntitledPicture There's not much to say on that matter. The biggest differences are that the lights and sounds are weaker on the prop but the aesthetic design is far superior on the prop. Also the button isn't spring loaded on the prop.
