well I liked her but I liked many companions more. Yes shes super cute, and very sexy except they don't show off the sex appeal that she has in Dr who, except a few scenes where, wow. It never hurts when companions are "easy on the eyes" and for your info that definitely applies to male characters like Captain Jack Harkness as well. This is a visual medium after all and while the Doctor can be as odd or other as times demand, appealing to the attractiveness of his/her/its (hah) companions has never gone wrong.

I love the "majestic" fairytale theme that a lot of Moffat's, and especially Eleven's era has. The staircase to a cloud in the sky where there's a lonely man in a small house helping out doesn't go home with everyone, but I adore that idea and the imagery that comes with it. The music really helps sell it as well, and while I tend to love most of what Murray Gold does, Clara's theme is probably my favorite companion theme in the show, closely followed by Amy's. It's very distinctive, and with quite a fairytale feel to it. But the score in this episode overall is phenomenal. I enjoy the way this episode treats Eleven's grief, even though I can imagine it seemed a bit rushed to some people. Here, we get the sense that he's been sitting on that cloud, being sad and broken up about the Ponds for WHO KNOWS how long. And then Clara comes along, breaking down his walls and getting him out there... only for him to lose her too. Of course he breaks down over that. And then, THEN, he gets this idea in his head, he sees this impossible thing happening - someone who died, that he cared about, and they could come back! Just the concept of something like that, of course that would appeal to the Doctor, especially considering what he just came from with the Ponds. His glee at the end fits, as his calmer and quieter demeanor did in the very beginning. Also, him looking at Amy's glasses always makes me sad. But it's a small, beautiful scene that makes sure you know that no one has forgotten the Ponds. Also, I need to add: I also love Strax. Strax is amazing.

Regards the 'majestic moments' 11's time is very much a fairy-tale, with fairy-tale imagery from time to time too, such as the spiral staircase leading to the TARDIS on a cloud. With Amy and Rory's time in hindsight its all more obvious- Amy-Princess, Rory- Prince, Madame Kovarian- Evil Witch that steals their baby away and leaves a changling in its place, River- good fairy as she appears out of thin air usually and has knowledge of future events and helps the Princess, and the Doctor of course, the good magician that sets the fairy-tale in motion. Fairy-tale motifs appear all over the place throughout 11's run I am sure you will spot plenty of your own if you look back over Amy and Rory's story with an eye for it.

I'm so happy that you have reached Clara's run as companion. She is my favourite, I won't go into why because of spoilers but I just adore her and what her relationship with the Doctor develops into. I re-watched this episode yesterday and a whole other layer occurred to me that hadn't before. It's probably obvious but the theme of the snow and ice reflecting is actually repeated through all aspects of the episode, everything is reflecting something else. I could give loads of examples (such as the boy wanting to play alone reflecting the Doctor's self imposed isolation) but the main thing is that the ice and snow are reflecting the Doctor's various stages of grief which is finally over when it turns to tears. Without giving away any spoilers, the next episode has some of the most adorable Matt Smith moments for me. It's nothing significant just him being him.

Actually most people, I´ve heard, prefer Donna! Personally I have to say, as a long term fan, my favourite companion is either Martha or Ace!

To be fair she did put one foot out first and kind of feel around and realize that it's an actual sturdy surface that she can stand on and she didn't move too fast... She used the scientific method to figure out how the doctor walked on clouds. Okay maybe not the entire scientific method to figure out all the details but she used the basis of it to figure out that it's walkable

Same 3:32 that's me every time I watch this episode. I immediately think of Game of thrones

Enjoyed this! I do love Clara a lot, though I will forever miss the Ponds. I just 11's stories so much & I totally know what you mean about that magical staircase moment. Such an epic scene with the Doctor showing off his TARDIS!
