david swann I don’t think she’s that well known in the US and Canada. Her first album (from 1988) was released there, and then her next 6 albums weren’t (from 1989-2000), but all of her albums since 2001 (after the success of Can’t Get You Out Of My Head) have been released there. I think her style of pop is a bit “too pop” for the American market, although I think her recent “country-esque” album has done quite well there.

I interpreted Astrid's final goodbye as a bittersweet ending, yes she died and only so many of her atoms came back but not enough was able to piece her altogether with the badly damaged system. But instead of just fading off and dying permanently she was given the chance to travel all over the universe just how she wanted to do so with the doctor. At least she gets to do what she wanted.

Just thought you'd like to know as Verity Lambert in-particular deserves all the recognition she can get for her pioneering role in creating the Who we love, and in life where she was also a pioneer beingon of the most successful Producers at the BBC for decades.

There's a lot of foreshadowing in the line "But if you could choose Doctor, if you could decide who lives and who dies, that'd make you a monster" - especially brought out in a line in this episode where the Doctor yells "I can do anything!" after failing to save Astrid's life. It's picked up brilliantly in The Waters of Mars.
