Totally, the RTD era really brought color to the Whoniverse. We got so many diverse characters: the 9th doctor, a man with survivors guilt; the 10th doctor, an egotist and enthusiast; Donna, a sassy temp; Jack, an immortal flirt; Rose, the Doctor's true love; and Martha, a shy yet adventurous doctor. We also got amazing stories like The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances, The Impossible Planet/The Satan Pit, Utopia, Midnight, and The Waters of Mars to name a few. We even got two great spin-offs to show us a deeper understanding of what went on when the doctor wasn't around. (I loved Torchwood and I really did like Sarah Jane Adventures). Now all we get are stories that Moffat thinks he can pass by us like Sleep no More and Hell Bent and that god-awful spin-off Class. I REALLY miss the RTD era.
@Althalus20107 жыл бұрын
"That really generic spin-off Class" Have you even watched it?
@mr.barcode31867 жыл бұрын
All I meant was it has a basic premise. A "spin-off set in Coal Hill School." I actually really like it, and I think Patrick Ness is actually really good at writing.

I'll always much more closely associate 2:46 with Fires of Pompeii. The moment Donna begs The Doctor to save someone--anyone. The doors open, the light of the Tardis floods the room, holding out his hand and saying "Come with me." Powerful, beautifully shot, wonderfully realised and with fantastic music. One of the stand-out moments of Dr Who.

This is a pretty strong episode in my books. It's right after he and Martha part ways since she needs to help her family, and the Doctor is really getting tired of losing people he cares about. It's weighing on him more and more. The latest blow had been the Master "dying", and he definitely needed to hear what Mr. Copper said to him at the end of the episode. "If you could really choose who lives and who dies, then you'd be a monster".
@dcfan10018 жыл бұрын
+Yanguchitzure kind of remdinds you of waters of mars doesnt it?
@loveyallyangu8 жыл бұрын
+dcfan1001 Yeah, a little bit. There are definitely parallels. In that one he's on his own yet again, he lost his best friend (Donna) and he can never see her or else she dies on the spot. Unlike in Voyage of the Damned, it eventually pushes him over the edge and he does things he regrets. 10 endures so much heart break, the writers are really mean to the Doctor sometimes. xD
@orangetack10995 жыл бұрын
The character work is spot on, but the plot is little more than 'chase around a spaceship'. Left a little to be desired

Whenever I hear the parts that imply Astrid (if you know what I mean), I want to cry. So fricking sad. The Doctor was starting to really love Astrid and just when he was sure they would be companions, she dies. In that moment, he feels as though he always gets bad luck and he is destined to be alone forever. All of his companions have to leave him after such a short span in his care.
