While it is a little unfortunate that the doctor wasn’t able to defeat the threat by himself this early in his series while they’re trying to establish him this was a fantastic scene. The Maestro was holding their breath during the whole scenario and you can tell that because there’s no music in the background, music itself is terrified it might’ve been beaten by the madman in a box himself. And the line: “I’ve experienced everything and if that’s where music comes from” that was a really excellent line too I know it’s hard to go back to being hopeful about Doctor Who post Chibnal but this is a good start I’d say

That episode was fantastic. To think I had doubts about Ncuti, since he appeared too confident to me in his introduction episode... Also, Maestro reminds me a lot of Winnifred Sanderson. Probably the hair or the voice, idk...

Horrible writing and acting and effects. why isnt the doctor questioning how he can see transparent notes picking up and dragging people to their death? also. why would a god be confused about their gender? or care about pronouns? its even worse than the concept behind the space babies episode.
@codyc25004 ай бұрын
I don’t think Maestro cares about gender, that’s kind of the whole point of their costuming. They’re the embodiment of music, saying why wouldn’t they stick to one gender is the same as asking why would they? And the special effects in Dr. Who have never been stellar, but I find the current effects they’re trying to at least be creative. I’d wager the Doctor wouldn’t question it because he’s seen plenty of weirder stuff in the eons he’s lived lol. None of your points make sense. You’re hating to hate.
@Badname20114 ай бұрын
@@codyc2500 except the whole pronoun thing at the begiining, and the little boy calling her "daddy". its being intentionally confusing for no other reason than the showrunner wanting to stuff an agenda down your throat. also, the numbers dont lie. viewership has been dropping like a rock and its worse now than anything chibnall put out.

Okay I've watched enough Doctor Who over the ages, but when did they start bringing in straight magic into a admittedly pretty soft scifi series.
@MantraMan20774 ай бұрын
It was like this early in the series. It's more of a return to roots kinds of direction. It's even stated in canon that Magic did exist, but the Timelords didn't approve of it, so they altered history so that the world obeyed physics. And with all the Timelords gone again, well... Magic makes a return to stage. Through the dark corners and fuzzy thinking and imagination of the living. At least that's my interpretation.

@@rockysandman5489 Not exactly, not to this extent. It’s been a while since I’ve seen it, but in The Shakespeare Code it’s explained that the witches are actually aliens and their word-based powers do get a somewhat flimsy sci-fi explanation. I’m pretty sure Ncuti’s era is the first time magic has just flatout been acknowledged as being magic.
