Patrick Troughton and Jon Pertwee used to come to America to do Conventions together. When the demands of answering fan question were finished for the day, they would go off to play and I mean literally play. They start water pistol fights in a hotel lobby, have elevator races, if they were signing autographs for a passerby, they would often sign each others names on the wrong photographs. Have silly Doctor who like arguments with hotel staffers and try to drag passers by into their absurd arguments. IOW - Actors with a day off. :-b

Hartnell's enthusiasm, professionalism and love for the show spawned a franchise that has given billions pleasure throughout the world and the ages. He has achieved immortality as his image and portrayal continues to be seen to this day..... not a bad achievement is it 😉

@@davekp6773 Agreed about Colin. I do think it was absolutely fitting that he was the incarnation to meet the Valeyard, something of a hard look into his future in a more metaphorical sense. Six was definitely the darkest up until that point, and I think being shown the absolute lowest level that the Doctor could reach was something of a wake-up moment for him as a character, diverting him away from that descent for a while at least. I do think he solidifies the notion that there are no bad Doctors, just ones not as popular as others. Interference from the higher-ups and such at the BBC just came at a really inopportune time to look at darker angles of the show.

The 3rd Doctor is oddly fascinating to me. He's almost so completely different from "The Doctor" that we know from all the other past and future incarnations. So much more physically active and threatening. So somber and introspective. A subtle philosophical character-study of The Doctor's blossoming morality at this point in his life. Growing up from the stern, self-serious original person, to the whimsical, optimistic crusader, to finally this imposing force for objective universal justice. It's with Pertwee The Doctor becomes a father-figure to humanity and its struggle to climb out of the Cold War and into a better age of peace and mutual understanding. At least, to me.

I'd like to see an episode in which the Doctor goes to 18th Century Scotland, finds trouble (naturally), and gets the help of the aged Jamie MacCrimmon. Jamie doesn't remember his time with the Doctor (thanks to the Time Lords) and wonders two things: why this weirdness isn't as upsetting to him as it is to the other Scots around him, and why this stranger with no name is grinning like a maniac and knows him so well. Because you know the Doctor will be absolutely thrilled to see him again.

Jamie still remembers his first adventure with the Doctor (The Time lords say so shortly after wiping his and Zoe's memories). Still could provide an excellent story since Jamie never found out about regeneration, and wouldn't believe that this new person is the same Doctor he "briefly" knew.

How would Brigadier Lethbridge -Stewart,Benton & Mike Yates feel about the Doctor if they knew he shanghaied 4 people who invaded the TARDIS during his 1st incarnation?
@brianoneill71866 жыл бұрын
Since the Brig seemed to accept an 18th century guy in a kilt, and two girls from two different eras, as Troughton's companions, he probably would have accepted the two teachers and either the 'granddaughter' or the other 'future girl', as long as everything sorted itself out.

shanghaied TWO people, and how would you feel if you've been keeping a secret for a few hundred years then suddenly these interlopers come barging into your home after you've warned them to stay away then make a mockery at everything you say when you try to explain.

Good that the Doctor had some sense not to rush back into travelling in the TARDIS so that he can build a new force field generator after he got a new dematerialization circuit and that he was forgiven by the Time Lords after he saved the Universe from being destroyed by Omega.

If Captain Mike Yates hadn't missed this adventure, he would've been surprised to see the inside of the Doctor's TARDIS and then see his 2 previous incarnations helping him in this adventure which was too tough for him to handle himself.
@azurerainbow46377 жыл бұрын
If Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart & Benton were in the TARDIS several more seconds after The Dooctor's 2 previous incarnations got sent back to their own time zones,they would've heard the TARDIS materialization noise that sounded a little quieter and would've seen a new dematerialization circuit appear on top of the TARDIS console and know that the Doctor has been forgiven and he can travel in the universe again.
@kalvingoodlaxson6 жыл бұрын
They didn't heard that at all since they had more work about what just happened in their headquarters through UNIT. If someone wrote the following story to show him leaving, the Doctor and Brigaidier argue as usual since he now can leave Earth whenever he wants. So this allows Jo to come with him to Metebelis III (like they mention the following story Carnival of Monsters, which never explains how he leaves Earth to travel since they arrive to a boat in early 20th century their appearance and mentions about the planet he wanted to show her.

During the Jon Pertwee era there were 5 seasons: 1970 - 1974. The Three Doctors started the 4th season; 1972 - 1973 where there are several adventures in outer space. The final adventure on a alien planet was The Planet of the Spiders (1974)
@brianoneill71866 жыл бұрын
Pertwee did four more stories that included the Brigadier: 'The Green Death'(Season 10 finale, Jo's last story); 'The Time Warrior'(Season 11 opener, which introduced Sarah, and the first Sontaran, with the Brigadier only in the first episode, and the rest of the story in the middle ages); 'Invasion of the Dinosaurs', and 'Planet of the Spiders'. The Fourth Doctor visited 'modern' Earth periodically as long as Sarah was with him; the more 'cosmic' stuff started after she left.
@EditedAF9875 жыл бұрын
Anti-HyperLink Pertwee’s first two seasons had him fully trapped on Earth however partway through his second season he repaired his TARDIS to the point that he could go off world but he would be forced to return to Earth after each trip. Season 9 he had a few more space adventures mixed in with the normal UNIT adventures until his exile was fully lifted at the beginning of Season 10. He spent the rest of Season 10 in space until the series finale. Then we had more of a mix again in Season 11

Under the category of If Only , if only William Hartnell's health had been better and allowed him to one, live longer and two, take a more active role in this classic adventure. No, William Hartnell died 1975 APR 23. Before his death he had suffered several strokes and finally died of heart failure in his sleep. Tom Baker didn't get the role of the 4th Doctor until late in 1974 (the episode entitled Robot first aired 1974 DEC 28) and by then William Hartnell's health was so bad that by December/1974 he was in a hospital permanently until his death. So the 4th Doctor never meet the 1st Doctor
