Lifestyle has a huge impact besides genetics on eye or any body part health. Eating all the good foods and herbs especially with fats, proteins, fiber, and the list goes on will affect this PVD issue along with other issues. Besides the surface of our body and eyes our insides need to be supported and detoxed on a regular basis. An overtaxed liver does not function well and does not allow us to digest and absorb well, by the time we notice, these symptoms have arisen and the damage was done. The key is to start off healthy and stay healthy. It's not too late to ever detox and support and heal the body, even the eyes and teeth, its all living tissue, it may get harder as we age but it still happens or we would be dead. Collagen is taken in also, it helps the gut so the body can get its nutrients and keep functioning better. So make chicken soup or bone broth or collagen supplements of good quality as well as all those beautiful fresh fruits and veggies. My life experience and research has shown me this over decades. Blessings and good health.

Not nearly as bad as I imagined, nor what most people would. They give you just the right amount of anesthesia to put you out for a couple minutes, then they give you a nerve block.. after that you don't feel much.. just pressure. And you're in a state that you don't care anyway. Through the whole process.. in and out of consciousness, I remember mostly feeling curious. Recovery can be a trial if you're told to be face down for a time.. me it was 3 days. @@infinity_spirit

For everyone who has eye floaters and are currently in panic: keep on reading. I first encountered floaters when I was about 19 but somehow they moved out of my field of vision, then at 27 I suddenly had a bunch of them. At that time I also had bad anxiety, stress etc and I couldn’t stop looking for the floaters that it became a daily obsession. But: I overcame it. It WILL get better! Try to find the core of where the anxiety comes from, maybe with a little more help like therapy or someone you trust to talk to. Strangely, I still have floaters but I barely notice them because I’m not scared of them anymore. The mind can be a powerful ally or your biggest enemy. If I can do it, you can do it too!

Great and Accurate information! From a Ophthalmologist point of view, I'm really glad you mentioned that vitrectomy surgery is a high risk procedure and rarely done for floaters. A couple of floaters are usually harmless. HOWEVER, If you get a large increase or influx in the amount of floaters, constant flashes of light or a dark curtain or veil coming over your vision you must seek medical advice! The prognosis for treating a retinal tear with laser is much better than a Vitrectomy surgery for a retinal detachment.

What a great video and explanation of how floaters are created. I am only 22 and have been seeing an increase in floaters 3 months ago and are still seeing them. Actually it’s more of a “bigger” worm looking floater which can bend in all ways and forms. In the beginning I was frightened but I went to see an eye specialist who said everything looked fine luckily. She didn’t schedule a new time for me though. I don’t have any flashes or “curtains” but only this rather “large” floater. Would you recommend me to go to an eye specialist again? I don’t understand whether it’s normal to see “big” floaters without it being a sign of something crucial? I really look forward to you answer🙏😊

@stijnvdv2 Жыл бұрын
@@donniemoder1466 His explanation is a bit misleading though. Floaters don't necessarily mean you have a PVD. It just means your vitreous is changing and there are forming some solid lipids in the vitreous. What he is referring to here is actually less common then normal floaters and occurs past mid-age, when the vitreous is shrinking, the bag that contains it comes loose from the back of the eye and when it pulls the strong connection around the optical nerve loose, that can give a more dense, less moving floater then the floaters that people are commonly familiar with; it's called a Weiss Ring. I'm an optometrist btw, so I know.

I've had large floaters since I was in my mid-30's (now 72). Had them "blasted" by YAG laser by a doctor in Ft. Meyers, Florida. Since insurance didn't cover it, had to save up $1800 per eye. Totally worth it, as I couldn't read a book before the treatment. I've read more books since the treatment than in the previous 20 years. The floaters in each eye would sometimes merge and blot out a stop sign or traffic light while driving. It's now been over a decade since I got the second eye done, no regrets. I worked for a laser company in the 70's so I understood what they can or cannot do.

Can you help me narrow it down, I am asking everyone. what did you do the day these came that could have brought floaters? 1) did you rub your eyes/had no sleep any night alnight like fighting to not sleep though your eyes were tired? 2) Did you have any cheese cake or cool drink or alcohol or coffee or tea. 3) Did you work on any screen or kept scrolling - which phone or tablet? were you exposed to too much heat like weather heat wave or kept your head inside the dryer or took supplements or overate mangoes that overheated your body probably. Asking because, I did all of the above, I felt I overate junk that day, lot of caffeine. While previous night I had no sleep I fought of my tired eyes to watch series, and HERE IS THE THING, I slept sideways blinding my right eye and watched the TV. That's when I got floaters that dimmed my vision, blurred it. I am still searching for answers that could be a common factor.

Hi, what did you do the day of our graduation that could have brought floaters? 1) did you rub your eyes/had no sleep alnight like fighting to not sleep though your eyes were tired?

Hi Allan, I've been going through the detachment process for a while now.. I hit this video because less than a week ago I had emergency Optometrist Dr visit due to recent onslaught of flashes of light, like lightening, or fireworks inside my eye, sometimes as often as one per second...( I had been warned about the dark "curtain" coming in from a side but this was a massive increase in flashes, plus floaters) The eye doc said my last visit only months before, my vitreous intact, it's now sagging inside the eye below the optic nerve., The good news was no tear, so far and that the most dangerous part was behind me but he wants to do a follow up in several weeks just to be sure. (My vision is pretty blurry, hard to say which is the main guy, or gal in order to give it a name. ;).Thanks so much again for taking the time to educate us lay folks!!!

This was a great video doc. I have a PVD I got it from an eye injury at 16 but I didnt get the bad floaters until about 23. My floaters are huge and bothersome. They made me give up all my outdoor hobbies, They ruined many of my holidays and they stopped me from joining the police force. They also are a consideration I take when trying to change my career as they are so hard to deal with. All this and not 1 doctor ever offered to help me. Ive had all the doctors tell me I will learn to live with them and they will magically go away. Im 36 now, My floaters are as bad and as bothersome as the day I got them. I wish somebody would have just operated on my right eye where most of them are. That way I would have been able to join the police or to have taken that job overseas on the beach that I was too scared to take, or not put on that 45kg of fat that I put on from depression eating and had to lose, now Im nearing 40 is it even worth it now? I will likely get instant cataract. If doctors had HELPED ME instead of treating me like I am an Ashhole then much of this pain in my life could have been avoided. Even tho I deal with them fairly ok now, I will never get back that ruined time.

@mellowman10203 жыл бұрын
@@rmarykirk1643 yeh mate . Well most opthamologists refuse to operate on floaters. There is maybe a small handful of surgeons in Australia who will do it and they aren't in Melbourne. I believe they are in Sydney At one point I went to Sydney which is about 400 miles away and I went to one of these doctors and they refused. After much begging and pleading they agreed to do the surgery. I should have booked the surgery right there and then however I flew home and a few days later I called to book the appointment in and they told me they had no record of me visiting the clinic. At that point I gave up. I should have seen the other 1 or 2 surgeons in Sydney who occasionally help floater sufferers but I put all my eggs in 1 basket

However, the doc didn't explain it to me like this video did, nor did they give it a name of PVD like this video does. It's very annoying, as I keep thinking a bug is flying in front on my face, when it's really this PVD I am seeing fluttering about inside my eye. I have suffered from Central Serous Retinopathy (other eye), and also iritis at different times in the past, so I know to get to the eye doc quick when something doesn't seem right with my eyes. HI, I had the same issue. My eye doctors, 3 of them, told me nothing was wrong, it would go away. Upon research, I learned flashes mean a possible tear. So, went to an eye doctor. Scott Geller, who actually listened to me and looked into my eye using a different device. He found a tear right next to where my nerve is. He said chances are it would heal on its own, but there is a small chance it could pull the nerve away and i would have to have retina repair which is not fun. Alternative was to let him laser it and burn it to seal it. Let it heal. I chose that option and never saw another flash again.

@@bluemsies3314 Hi, mine I saw at night, yes, at the side, fast flashes like lightning. In the corner, especially when I turned my eye sharp one way. 3 doctors said they looked in my eye and saw nothing. Geller, looked deep in my eye with a device that was different then what the others who charged me over $250 used. He was in my face pressing hard on my eye with a glass type device. He then asked if he could video it and show it to people. I said yes. He showed me a little black dot in back of my eye next to retina nerve. He said it was a small tear causing the flashes. 90% chance it would heal. 10% it could tear the retina. It was my decision. I had him laser it and then it heals on its own. The day he used the laser, I never saw another flash. I disagree that flashes are normal. It could heal on its own, and then they will go away.

Thank you for a very insightful explanation with regard to floaters. I was born with extreme nearsightedness and have been experiencing floaters for over 50 years. I experienced a retinal detachment twice, with positive surgical repairs, then due to blunt force to one eye and delay in eye care, after a poor prognosis for a third detached retina I went completely blind in the eye. Decades later, I wound up contracting Wet AMD in the good eye, which was successfully treated twenty years ago, however, I developed a cataract and had it repaired. But throughout all these decades eye specialist always down played eye floaters, then when I had the cataract surgery the Ophthalmologist told me that no specialist in their right mind would dare operate to remove my floaters. Luckily they are not blocking my vision but within the last two weeks I noticed a new one that pretty big, very dark and dense, and whenever I look down it shoots upward , akin to a cockroach climbing up a wall at jet speed. Making appointment to see my ophthalmologist this week.

Had a PVD incident about 7 years ago, but don't recall having the large floater issue, but rather a small very dark floater that mostly stays out of sight in the upper left area of my vision in the left eye. What I experienced was while shopping at night, after a very long drive, I had a circle of flashing white lights...plenty scary when you're away from home and have only ever heard of retinal detachment. Thankfully was able to visit a local vision care facility on an emergency basis, where it was diagnosed, with a follow-up a few days later upon returning home. That eye has never "felt" the same since. More recently I'm noticing it is sending to feel somewhat 'goopy' though it is an eye that tends to dryness. Even prior to this incident I had to stop wearing contacts because of the dryness. I also just watched your video on macular degeneration as my (deceased in 2014) mom had one eye with dry, and one eye with wet and I know she would get an injection in one of them. Her mom had macular degeneration to the point of being legally blind, and was taking classes in Braille, so I am a bit fearful of (and need to get in for an exam - it's been since pre-Covid lockdowns!). I keep the lined grid on a wall...no wavy lines! Thank you for your informative explanations.
