We’ve all played solos with fast passages that we’ve rushed through. It’s more obvious when we perform with a piano accompanist and have to hold that last note longer that we should to let the piano catch up.

So, how do you learn not to rush? Beyond just using a metronome, here’s some ideas for learning not to rush. Things like changing the articulation, changing the rhythm, playing it backwards, playing it all in triplets, and yes, using a metronome.
