CK3 Tutorial - Late Game Tips & Mending the Great Schism

Approximately 50 years after we began our quest to Mend the Great Schism, Emperor Alfred has taken the territory we need from the Damascusid Empire, gone on enough pilgrimages to gain the requisite Piety and is now ready to bring those Orthodox Christians to kneel before the Pope.
In this video I'll give you some Late Game tips on Great Holy Wars, converting conquered territory, Special Buildings, and to never, ever click the Open Dynasty Tree button!

The release of 1.1 is coming tomorrow (Sept 29) and it looks like there are some major changes. - The Renown gain from alive dynasty members is now capped at 2/month (100 alive members) - My tip on having a huge Dynasty is no longer a way to gain lots of Renown.

Just to add as I noticed this, but I have created some empire titles (tiny ones after integrating most of their lands) on the periphery of my lands and given them to dynasty members which gives you a decent bit of renown. I have about 32 per month and it still stacks up pretty quick. Might help someone.

That's a good idea to generate renown now. You could also create a couple kingdoms to get possibly more renown (depending on the kingdom/empire ratio).

there is a little checkbox next to the buttons to release / ransom/ etc. of individual prisoners to exclude them from the mass actions:))

Super cool, I’m also playing catholic, created Britannia and then just completed a holy war France, but it’s taking a while to covert to catholic. Any tips? I gave the duchies to my dynasty culture Catholics. Was that a mistake? How did you do it in Egypt in 13 years!?!

What is your authority level? Does high crown authority encourage vassal to expand outside of the realm?

You definitely want level 3 crown authority. At that level vassals will stop fighting each other, and start fighting for land outside of your empire. Don't go to max authority, or if you do make sure drop down to level 3 soon. At max authority, they can't declare wars at all, which will limit the expansion of your empire.

Do special buildings give their bonuses to me, or to the duke that i assigned the place to?

You will only get the bonuses from special buildings that you directly hold. When you give it to a Duke, they will receive the bonuses instead of you. However, there are some special buildings that give +% Renown, which you will benefit from if you give that holding to a member of your Dynasty.

@@Sandouras Yeah, I assume it's to keep you from stacking all the bonuses and steamrolling too hard. I find that I personally hold on to Jerusalem, Rome, Constantinople and other major sites for their bonuses.

@@DoctorJefe Yeah but i still cant keep their respective duchies all at once, so that rustles my jimmies. I guess it would be too overpowered, but if you have all these cities at once, you already are a powerhouse.

i don’t understand why i have to control the Popes land to do this. Any tips on how to take Rome? any time i try to take it i get excommunicated. and that makes since tbh

Late reply and although I only ever do it with a custom christian faith, you could still do this fairly easily if leave rome for last. Go for alexandria, jerusalem, antioch and constantinople first (when the abbasids and byz are in multiple internal wars is best which is common in the current version) . I imagine this is much easier when playing as the orthodox byzantines though
