I think the only way to go hellenic is to start at any unreformed religion and simply play tall for.. a lot of time until you get an extremely good heir that can get all those learning perks. The thing about being unreformed and playing tall instead of wide is that you the bigger you get the more suceptible you will become to holy wars and I think even vassals have a negative opinion modifer if unreformed. I used debug mode to test it, and after I converted to hellnism it DIDN'T use my piety at all, it says "cost" but you keep it, wierdly enough... Anyway basically if you want hellenism back I'd say wait for an earlier start date xpac lol, because you need way too much lifetime of playing defensively, but I guess you can spread your dynasty meanwhile... My best bet would probably be a viking making britannia empire and staying there, do some sacrifical stuff for tons of piety on a very young ruler (preferably) then convert, while also making sure you have claims on the holy sites (rome/alexandria are "easy" to get, depends on how the game progresses), get some mercs to take the byz on for athens (if they're strong, assuming they are) and you're set, but all this has to be done very quickly, hence you'd need a genius heir imho for that 30% lifestyle boost to xp, and as many +vassal opinion modifiers as well on top of preferably some dread (which should be easy since everything u execute will have no tyrany penalty once u switch religion). Anyway its EXTRMELY harder to get to convert to a dead religion than in ck2, I hope in the future they add some discounts if you hold holy site of said religion, there's no way you get enough piety as a christian, I had a 40+ learning ruler with (cheated) all learning perks and still only made like 6 piety per month, there's just no way to legit get it done in 1 lifetime.
@superdestrier91604 жыл бұрын
what does playing tall vs. wide mean?
@aonirsplayground62244 жыл бұрын
@@superdestrier9160 Tall meaning your own realm not spreading too far, wide meaning map painting. CK2 is more dynasty based so pushing some one's claim for a foreign throne isn't bad. This isnt exactly EU4. The idea to play tall is to not be too big to suffer constant rebellions and focus only on the learning mostly.

I don't know about you guys, but in CK2 I found it easier to mend the schism before creating the Roman Empire - if all the Catholics convert to Orthodoxy then it's simply a matter of requesting vassalization for some of the extra territory you need. The only issue is the Muslim countries declaring a Jihad to get the Levant back from you.

It seems like the only plausible way is to convert to hellenic pagan, is converting to faiths closer to it, some of those huge penalties was about going into a different "family" of faiths. I hope a future DLC will go more into faiths, since it has a very solid base mechanic with the mixing and matcing of tenets and such. It just take a lot of work to really pull off anything cool with those systems at the moment, since the penalties for converting and reforming can get as ridiculously high as show here, when going to into the old greek pantheon faith.
@ericlanglois91944 жыл бұрын
Patronage of a Holy Order goes to whoever owns the title directly above their primary holding. So if they only have 1 barony or city as a holding, their patron is whoever owns the county that barony or city is in, somehow that county was likely passed on to someone when your character died. Also, Mending the Schism can be done by any christian faith, even custom heresies.

@greas12334 жыл бұрын
The problem is that those vikings formed their own kingdoms separate from the ones in Scandinavia which is something that CK doesn't take into account and as such those lands remain under the control of whoever conquered them however in a gameplay perspective it makes sense, if you conquer some land and then after you die it becomes independent it would make playing a viking kinda pointless and if the player is allowed to keep those lands than why shouldn't the AI be as well?
