Botox is the only thing I’ve tried that worked for my armpits. The first year I needed to get it every few months, second and third year only once, then I didn’t need it again. Fast forward about 10 yrs and into menopause, I started sweating again, but only about a 1/4 of how I had been, but now my issue is odor. I’ve tried EVERYTHING, and the most effective things to use for me are fruit based glycolic acids like Surface Deep anti-odorant spray (which worked for a year or so then stopped) and Megababe - The Cream Deo which is Mandellic acid, Lactic acid and Niacinamide.

Can you please do a dedicated video on the inflammatory cascade and what happens in the skin when it kicks in? You've mentioned a couple of times that there can be inflammation in the deeper layers of the skin for a long time before any visible symptoms even appear. How does that work? How can someone recognize this happening before it gets out of hand? What are proven remedies for keeping inflammation under control? What are the effects of long-term inflammation on the skin? What are the most researched anti-inflammatory skincare ingredients? It would be very helpful! Thank you for the super informative deep dives!

WoW! From this video I learned- I probably have Generalized ,Not Primary hyperhidrosis. I am 52y/o female. I can remember from the age of 6 being wetter than other people. None of my relatives have it. At 12 when I started sports and that is when I knew- the other kids were not sweating like me. It was and still is "pouring" rain, compared to my teammates drizzle and dry hair and clothes. I have to wait a bit longer to take a shower, because I continue to pour. I would say stress, exercise, warm temperatures, and certain foods...those are my triggers to open up the flood gates. Thanks for educating this 52 y/o...now I know I am an "exceptionally" "normal" person- who is some what dysregulated- My husband loves me- even when I feel embarrassed - we still have fun. It is nice to know there's a medication available...and a correct way to use antiperspirant at night!! Who knew! Thanks guys!

My now 10 year old tolerates the dermadry very well. According to her it’s tingly not painful. She first used it age 8 as her hand sweat would soak her writing paper and gripping a pencil was difficult and she would often slip over with slippery feet. (water would constantly bead or drip from her hands and feet). After just three uses there was a huge reduction in sweat. She now does one or two sessions every couple of months for her hands and feet.

Sweating doesn’t seem like a big deal but it really can be debilitating. My hands and feet are the worst parts for me. I remember doing homework was difficult, shaking hands is embarrassing. A few years ago, I realized wearing socks and closed toed shoes really helps the sweating in my hands. At home, I’ll wear socks at all times. It doesn’t stop my hands from sweating 100% of the time, but it slows it down a ton. It’s not a cure, but hopefully it will help someone else.

I have had hyperhidrosis since I was a teenager, it started only in the armpits and I decided to do the sympathectomy, after that it has generalized to the entire body, except my hands, which are very dry. I have started with acne on my back and face after the surgery.
@LittleCatBead2 күн бұрын
I had Botox done on my hands when that treatment was very new. I was 13 yrs old (24 yrs ago) and not only did it hurt like HELL, it also didn’t work at all 😔. I ended up having a sympathectomy at age 18. At first it helped, then the compensatory sweating came, all over my back, to the point of needing to change shirts 4 times a day. Then I got put on SSRIs and it caused sweating all over my legs, trunk, and half of my face/neck. I tried glyco, oxybutinin, drysol, you name it. Then I started getting Botox for my face and scalp and it started working! My suggestion is to try a bunch of things bc everyone is different. The sympathectomy changed my hands forever and I am so happy about that (bc that is a major cause for bullying and social anxiety). Now with the sympathectomy my hands are under control but I do iontophoresis on my feet which helps a LOT and I get Botox on my face and scalp. It’s not 100% over but this was a great video and explanation. Thank you!

I’ve had a sympothectomy. Twice!! Changed my life!! I was the worst case my doctor had ever seen! My hands dripped non stop and growing up I had to use a wash cloth in between my hand and my pencil while writing at school cause sweat would drip down my pencil and ruin my papers. I got the surgery at 16 and was the 4th person my surgeon had done it on. My hands no longer sweat ever! Such a blessing!!

Second question....I have had crabiofacial HH for some time now, and I believe it was triggered by years of wildly ineffective treatment with the whole gamut of new and old mental health meds. I've gotten off that path since it caused me nothing but side effects, but the facial and scalp sweating is making me more and more of a hermit. Just walking around the grocery store has my scalp, face, neck, and upper chest literally soaked. The rest of my body is dry/sweating a normal amount. I'm not short of breath nor do I have increased heart rate. I'm not in perfect shape, but I can certainly shop for food and go for walks without CV elevation...but I don't because I'm SO horrified. I've lost out on many job interviews because I'll go in and be soaked from head to chest, including my hair. That gives off a first impression that I'm dishonest and I'm distracted by the sweating. I've learned to dress in ways that hide it as well as possible and wear my hair up, but it's still pretty obvious. So I've even stopped going out with friends, church, and the thought of dating (which used to be really fun for me...most of the time) is just unimaginable. I've had Botox before for migraine headaches and it was extremely successful and I tolerated it well. Could Botox be used for this distribution? (Anxiety will make it worse if it has already started, but it doesn't seem to be the actual trigger...in fact, sometimes the sweating is the trigger for my anxiety, not the cause, I think!) Is compensatory sweating a large risk with Botox to the craniofacial area? THANK YOU so so much for addressing this on your KZbin channel. You guys are very real and down to earth and many of your suggestions have helped me in the past, mainly sifting through all the products on the shelves as my sun-worshiping teen skin has come back to haunt me in my 40s. I appreciate you talking about it and reminding us hiding at home thar we're not alone, and maybe there's some hope of effectice treatment!

Can either of your confirm or deny that if you take a prescribed SSRI, that it makes you sweat more and thus makes you more prone to dehydration? I heard this last summer and wonder if this is true? I take Muay Thai classes three times a week and it looks like I just stepped out of the shower when the hour long class that I take is up.

Yes, this is one of the drugs that can make you sweat - it does me. I just drink a little extra water.

Hi Dr. Shah & Dr. Maxfield 😊 HELP PLEASE!! Two questions: 1) how can I stop over-grooming/skin picking? It seems like my pores just so get congested (like blackheads/closed comidomes) and using an extraction tool is too satisfying 😓 but this leads to hyperpigmentation! I’m already on 0.025% tretinoin and 15% azelaic acid, and taking an NAC supplement that’s supposed to help those who know they over-groom-any other ideas? 2) Dr. Shah-would you consider making a Remedy for Pores sans the retinoid? Many of us who are on tretinoin/adapalene really want to try it but can’t find a way to fit it into our routine! Thank you (for the videos and the ✨vibes✨) 🫶🏽
