The sounds of the two first albums of Depeche Mode and first Yazoo should be tributed to Daniel Miller. Without him there wouldn't be a Depeche Mode to start with. The songs are Vince, but the sounds are Daniel Miller

@@mrlargo7067 Wasn't Eric Radcliffe working with Vince by the time Yazoo came about? He was credited as the producer, along with Yazoo (which for the most part means Vince). Miller might have loaned some equipment, but I think his creative work was with Depeche Mode at the time.

This is my favourite all-time song. I have so many happy memories of the summer of '82. Thank you so much for doing this. As for the original equipment, I'm pretty sure it was a Roland Jupiter 4 for the main melody, a Pro-One for the bass and a TR-808 for the drums. The 12" remix (and re-remix) dissects this song into all its constituent parts which is easier to hear. Great video !!!

The Yazoo group didn't have the means today to make this hit. They did it with analog synths and gave an inimitable sound. The original DW theme (1963-1979) was created primarily using tone generators for the melody - all the individual notes were recorded as separate tones and then spliced together. There were no keyboards played at all on any of it. I guess you mean the 1980-86 version, which was created using primarily the Yamaha CS80?

According to Music Radar, that intro was done on an ARP 2600: "Don’t Go would be the second (smash) single from the pair’s debut LP, Upstairs at Eric’s. An earworm of an intro from an ARP 2600 sets the stage, carried along by an incessant bass courtesy of Clarke’s ever-present Sequential Circuits Pro-One. A thick Roland Juno-60 bass complements Moyet’s soulful voice."
