Thanks to the govt, finally. Some doctors are so greedy that they have even started forcing you to buy specific medicines and from a specific shop. My mother went to a doctor, he charged 2000 rs just for consultation. Then asked us to come back later next week, when he charged another 2000. And asked us to visit again next week. Medicines that he prescribed were of 5500. And a person who is sick has no choice but to pay.

Generic koi jaadu ki drug nahi hoti hain. Govt should also be strict on quality on ALL drugs be it generic or branded. Agar generic drug nakli nikli to treatment fail hone ki jimmedari kiski hogi patient ki doctor ki ya company ki ? Jab log resturant main jaake kitchen dekhtain hain khana safai se ban rahan hain usi tarah drugs companies ka bhi manufacturing data public hona chaiye.

Not all people eat in restaurants in India. There are people who can't afford branded drugs and are forced to stop treatment. What about them if they can save 80% of their money means they can at least have a complete treatment.Doctors on the other hand only recommend branded drug bcz they get some money from brands and some do this bcz of their reputation but that doesn't change the fact that it is the responsibility of a doctor to aide the patient by providing then with generic alternative if they can't afford branded ones.

Branded medicines me sellers ke liye margin very low hota hai & saara profit brand khud rakh leta hai & usi profit se sari cost nikalta hai like advertising cost, distribution cost, dealer cost, production cost etc. Yaha brand customer ko khud attract karta hai apni cost pr & seller ka kaam sirf sell karna hai. BUT Generic brand ka production cost ke elava koi major costing nahi aati & seller hi iska promoter hai, so seller ko decent margin milta hai.

it's a welcome move by the government but the quality control for generic drugs is not upto the mark in India and that may cause another problem, so government should also focus on putting the right mechanisms in place to ensure good quality generic drugs because there are many instances of generic drugs not providing the required therapeutic effect and in cases like antibiotics it's more dangerous as the low quality of antibiotics leads to drug resistance in bacterias and drug resistance is already a big issue for health care providers.

NMC guide to write the formulation of medicine so anyone can buy different brands which is suitable for his/her budget. JANAUSADHI medicine saves upto 90%. I bought approx 12k medicine for my parents for months janausadhi medicine reduces my expenses and upto 70 to 90%. Nice move by NMC

The correct term is Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API). There is a serious problem with generic drugs that the layperson cannot understand but approximately 70% of generic drugs available in India are spurious/bad quality as per the reports of CDSCO (Indian Drug Regulatory body like the USFDA in the US). What this bad generic quality does to the therapeutic effect is... if you are taking one tablet of let's say Levocetirizine from any branded product then you see its effectiveness from just one tablet only but to get the same effect from generic medicine we have to take 2 or 2.5 tablets. Yes, generic medicine is the only way forward to help people get affordable healthcare but to make this thing a reality we need to improve and regulate this market of generic products being supplied in our country. After this bringing such a law would be useful and just to let you know that this prescription guideline has always been a part of the NMC bill to only write API in capital letters on prescription but physicians rarely follow it except for physicians in AIIMS.

Two things to be regulated in India. One being the household workers, their health insurance and there should be an entity looking after them at the top via central government. Second being these doctors, they after giving donations to become doctors try to get all that expenditure on their education by charging patients hefty amount. Regulation shouldn’t be just on paper, it should be there in reality as well.

@RahulSharma-oc2qd
@RahulSharma-oc2qd Жыл бұрын
@@ashu0102 exactly that’s not limited to medical colleges only. Fees are exorbitant everywhere starting from schools to all the way to engineering colleges and medical colleges. But only doctors have privileges to exploit anyone who comes to them for fair amount of treatment. They are the only people in our India who have courage to squeeze out every ounce of our money and yet want celebrity kinda treatment. They are no different than those policemen who are exploiting common people by asking for bribe. At least they are being called on by everyone us that they are corrupt but as soon as you say anything to doctor, there would be 100 who would preach and count their deeds. If you are giving life to someone by sucking out every single penny in that person’s pocket then sorry for me they are no less than someone who could deny you your life if you haven’t offered them money.

I welcome this step, however, it will not make any significant changes as the game of commission will go from the doctor's lap to the medical store owner's lap, even if a doctor writes the generic name, the store owner will give the one with the highest margin. Also, the government has to ensure that the quality of drugs must be acceptable, as right now hundred of brands are making poor-quality medicines, with the highest possible margins.

THESE PEOPLE SIT AT computers anyways - they have smartphones with Doctor apps - these apps ask for their registration numbers. Why not make this PAPERLESS? Doctors should have a thermal bill printing machine - where the medicine name can be printed or a code can be entered - like the penal codes of law. They enter the name of the patient, their unique ID number, and the prescription. There could be a provision to share this with your hospital or local pharmacy online - so the stocks of the prescribed medicine can be checked - whichever stock has the medicine the patient receives it. It could work very much like the rest of the online market works.

Other side of the story: Generic Drugs are cheaper, but Quality is not well regulated and a lot of Generic Drug production is controlled by Politicians who tend to bypass all rules and regulations. Branded drugs are expensive because of the R&D, stringent quality checks, high salary costs, marketing sales cost etc.
