@@n_mcg Oh, I agree. But I'm pretty sure editing happens only after shooting is done. So, if the scene hits wrong in that moment, even if 90% of it is good, it might have to be cut. Better a rushed episode than one that takes the viewer out entirely - is what I presume they're thinking. Case in point, I think one of the comments below is right - the whistle scene was probably cut because of the inclusion of the Twist song. Might have been scene length instead that cut the tension, but I'm betting on the song. And it probably meant the whole scene had to go.

@MutterNonsense234 tbh What it really feels like is that the episodes were originally written with bettet pacing for 50-60 minute episodes, and then were cut down to 45 pretty late in development And I'm just saying this by how consistently every episode felt rushed and didn't have any moments to wrap up stories and explain things, but the scripts do have that stuff

In the episode it cuts to the time vortex so it appears as if he put the whistle away off screen, so I’d say continuity is still fine but the scene would’ve been cool and it should’ve been included on physical media along with these other deleted scenes.

I think the issue with the scene is probably that it cuts the tension of them dragging Sutekh behind them. I'd assume that is why it was cut out. Still, I'd rather the explanation was there, even if it had to be reshot to fit after Sutekh is killed.

The "Time is flooding back" scene should have been kept due to how it calls back to the window shots during Ruby's piano playing and gives more of an explicit explanation to the musical ending. The whistle scene also should have been kept in, adds a time travel element to the finale that just seems very Doctor who-y and makes the whistle more believable as a threat against Sutekh. Though I wonder if "There's Always a Twist" was a placeholder or if it's actually meant to be on the jukebox lol

Whatever you think of the series, these guys are the top of their game in terms of cinematography. The Doctor Who team have always had a knack for shooting things beautifully on a shoestring compared to other productions but you'd rarely tell, especially since around the Capaldi era

TBH could take the deleted scenes and add them to the Disney+/BBC One uploads (obvs editing with music to make them fit better) as they do add a lot of missing context to some of the episodes and can be inserted pretty fine for the most part, especially Empire Of Death's and the Whistle Explanation (at least if you cut out the "always a twist at the end" part as it sort of thematically clashes with The Doctor's stand against Sutekh bit)

I think the only one I was okay with being left out was 14 and Donna in the halls of the giggle but most of the scenes were good, address mild plot holes, or showed more character development especially between 15 and Ruby which I think a lot of use were missing.

Im sorry....but whoever is in the department of chosing which scenes to cut should absolutely be fired...This is a lesson Doctor Who that if a scene affects the plot in terms of explaining something unexplainable, or helping continuity dont delete it lol! That whistle scene makes empire of death 10x better from a 2 minute scene lol, just cut out the filler and put that back in and suddenly the episode is good again! Well some scenes are deleted for a reason, so the Memory Tardis dying isnt Canon for me. Since RTD said Tales is Canon, it makes more sense that the Memory Tardis dissapered and thats how Tales exists.

The whistle scene was the most robbed scene of the century. We needed to see Ncuti flying the TARDIS more often making it feel like Doctor Who but also,, getting to see how the TARDIS is overlapping and existing outside of TIME with him interacting with his past.
