I'm sincerely enjoying this series. With most of their stories in the 70's, 80's, and 2010's, it's easy to forget that the Daleks aren't just a mindless horde shouting the same catchphrase over and over again. When they were introduced in the 1960's, they had a sadistic intelligence, they discussed and debated their plans with each other, and they felt like a real society. When they were reintroduced to modern audiences, I feel like the Metaltron and the Cult of Skaro were superb updates of this original characterization for the Daleks, but barring a return to form in Resolution, Victory of the Daleks was the last time I found the Daleks all that interesting. This series gets the Daleks. They're a fascist, authoritarian society, but they're not robots. They're sadistic and some have their own ambitions.

You know, as a big Dalek fan, I feel like Timelord Victorious is one of the greatest things to come from Doctor Who. The Daleks can be so so interesting if it involves well-written Dalek characters, and they’re not treated as generic villains. Daleks! episode 2: The backstabber who backstabbed the backstabber meant to backstab the backstab of the other backstabbers. It's really one big backstab package gone very wrong, in a fun way. Since the comics, the Dalek Strategist is quickly becoming the most fascinating Dalek character in the history of the show. As I suspected for some time, this guy is meant to be a Dalek leader (even the Doctor noticed something different about him), but... as long as the hierarchy continues to support the egomaniac, that's Dalek blasphemy.

I know the animation doesn't look very good and looks like it's from a video game, but it actually makes sense. Rendering a 3D animation takes a long time and a whole bunch of computers and rendering farms. It not only cost a lot of money, but it's also impossible to do during corona and limited staffing. If you animate in a game engine, it takes only a second to render everything and have something that looks presentable. It can also be done remotely by renderers and animators.
