The best recent version of The Master in recent years, cold, alien, and evil but never too over the top or hammy. Michelle Gomez was such an awesome actress in this role and blew it out of the park.

I especially loved missy’s redemption act in the later season. It felt real. Like the master and doctor could end up being actual friends and then the poetic Ending to her life was just.. a masterpiece

@ well, the costume was supposed to be a Salemite modern type outfit, but yeah it did look similar. Plus they both kill people for fun, they both have that one person who they care for DEARLY and will never let anything happen to and they both have this weird ability to appear wherever they want. Did you enjoy Agatha All Along? A lot of people are saying they didn’t like the ending because it felt anticlimactic and out of place, but besides the witchcraft I LOVED the show in its entirety.

that long coat she wears is soo reminiscient of missy--in e2 of aaa when she has the coat and her hair up (which. SUCH a good look btw) they look really similar

With the exception of Paul McGann not getting at least 1 television season as The Doctor, I feel that the biggest "what if" missed opportunity Doctor Who will ever have was Capaldi not getting a 4th season as The Doctor with Missy as his companion (along with Bill and Nardole). That to me would have been the ultimate TARDIS team as you would have the tragic hero (Capaldi knowing it's his final season), the romantic foil (Missy trying to be The Doctor's friend & good), the exposition/audience POV character (Bill), & the likable comic relief (Nardole).

I've watched all of the original series episodes and all of the post 2005 episodes. Missy is bar none the best of the villains. Better than Simms' Master who was already stellar. She's unpredictable, ruthless, absolutely brilliant, and a true threat to the Doctor. Michelle Gomez was and is the best of the best in the run of the show.

Missy is what I think was really missing from Dawan's version of the Master: There was a balance of childish pettiness and ice cold pragmatism. She wasn't killing people just for the sake of showing how evil she was, it was always calculated and she used it to break others before she can take them out. Even Saxon Master showed that back in series 3.

That is a good description of why prefer Michelle's version over Dawan's version of the Master. He lost any growth Missy had and his reason for it (the time lords lied about the timeless child) seemed so poorly motivated it was hard to take him seriously

Best version of the master and the previous one was awesome too. I do like how when she realises they are on Skaro you can see the fear in her face too - it really hightens the predicament that even Missy is at least a little bit worried by the challenges infiltrating the Dalek homeworkd presents.

Missy was such a brilliant version of the master! My first master was john simms master in series 3 and he quickly became one of my favourite doctor who villains, so to find out who missy really was in the series 8 finale was really exciting! Missy was such a fun a fresh twist on the character and I loved her dynamics with the twelfth doctor! Seeing her journey and character development was one of the highlights of the moffat era for me! ❤❤🔷😊

Michelle Gomez was never anything less than astonishing as Missy. Such a wonderful performance. I was very sad that she was killed off - although the John Simm Master should have regenerated into her, onscreen, showing that Missy is endless, always returning to that one point.
