Capaldi did mention in an article I can't find now that when he first stepped onto the set, he did this giddy little giggle that he said was his inner child coming out to play & he immediately wanted to flip all the switches & levers & buttons on the console to see if they actually did something

That's why I love Rory as a character. You can tell that he was meant to be different from Mickey Smith. Instead of starting as a constantly scared boyfriend who's a bit out of his depth, Rory is introduced as someone who is already somewhat capable of holding his own when traveling with the Doctor. This scene shows that when introduced to the fact that aliens exist, he did research so he would be better prepared when given the opportunity to deal with them again.

From what I have seen in different reactions, people who don't like Clara, feel like, she has better "treatment", than their favorite companion(s). What I believe people don't understand, is that she was written this way, and it was necessary for Peter Capaldi's (which often the same people adore) story works. e.g. The episode "Heaven Sent" (which is one of the best-rated episodes in the whole series) needs the Doctor to be essentially "obsessed" with Clara.

@@nicodiangelo831 I mean, not really? The Timeless Child underwent a transformation into a Gallifreyan through a Chameleon Arch. They were raised as a Gallifreyan (possibly as a Shobogan given that they lived and were raised outside of the main city) before attending the Academy and becoming a Time Lord, under the name the Doctor. Saying that the Doctor isn't Gallifreyan is rather inaccurate since biologically they have Gallifreyan (specifically Time Lord) DNA and they were raised on Gallifrey within its culture, education, and technology. It's kinda like saying an adopted child isn't part of a family just because they weren't born from that family, despite having grown with the culture, norms, inside jokes, food, relationships, and memories that other members of the family have also experienced.

I wish that Victorian Clara were the one they went with and because of some weird things she ended up as Oswin at the beginning of if the season to meet her end. But then we wouldn't have had her and 12 and that dynamic was worth the unexpected change!

A rare inclusion of Modern day Clara in a compilation video like this, and I’m glad that she was featured because her introduction to the Tardis is completely different to everyone else’s. Instead of a “big reveal” she got a character focused scene with her talking about her reasons to travel. We obviously got the big reveal in the previous episode when Victorian Clara saw the new Tardis: so we don’t loose anything by changing the formula, and in fact it kinda justifies modern day Clara more (at least in my eyes) because she gets to stand apart from her predecessor as a more controlled and mature character who is Able to take the Time Machine in her stride.

We can't forget the very FIRST reaction.... Ian and Barbara pushing their way into the TARDIS then stopping in their tracks, stunned. Not quite a "first reaction", but when the Fourth Doctor and Leela are in the auxiliary control room, he tries to explain "relative dimensions in space" to her, using two different sized black boxes. Her "That's silly!" reaction is great!

I honestly love Yaz, Ryan and Graham's reaction, because they are genuinely just gobsmacked and awe-struck. It was a change in the tone of the scenes and show, and one that after an adjustment period I kind of came to adore? Don't get me wrong, I love the new seasons, they're brilliant... but I'm going to miss that era of Doctor Who (especially 2021/2022). "Everything ends and it's always sad, but everything begins again, too. And that's always happy..." Also Ryan immedietly going and trying to play with the console is the most I've related to a character's single action in the whole show. I would 100% instantly just want to run around flicking switches and stuff.

I like how both "Companion sees TARDIS for the first time" videos include Victorian Clara in the thumbnail. Team knows that scene is iconic in every way. Edit: Well that's just not nice is it? Did you really change the thumbnail just to spite me?

Funny that we use Tardis as our group name on Garden Scapes. It's amazing that Dr. Who is still on TV and it got started in 1963.

The Whittaker era had the Master kill all of the Time Lords when he discovered they'd experimented on the Doctor to gain the secret of regeneration before covering it up and wiping the Doctor's memory. In other words, the Master somehow single-handedly murdered the entirety of Gallifrey because he learned the Doctor was a secret mystical chosen one from another universe and is the reason he can regenerate. Keep in mind that this (for whatever reason) was stated to have happened _after_ Missy's redemption arc, and you'll realise that not only is this fit of rage completely out of character for the Master as a whole (even when he found out the High Council was responsible for his madness, he only took his revenge out on the man who _ordered_ it to happen: Rassilon), but doesn't fit with the character growth Missy went through and the care she showed for the Doctor both before _and_ after her redemption arc.

My favorite is from the original series. The first time Sgt. Benton and the Brigadiers go inside the TARDIS in The Trhee Doctors. The Doctor asks Benton if he's going to say it's bigger on the inside and Benton says, "well, it's obvious. Isn't it?" The the Brigadier is pissed that the Doctor has been wasting UNIT resources on it.

I love seeing each companions first reaction to seeing the tardis! Rose was my first doctor who companion and the image of her running into the tardis to escape the auton chasing her remains so iconic for me! Martha's reaction really stands out for me too, particularly because I love the version of her theme played in it! Amy's first time walking into the tardis was beautiful and I loved both versions of the different clara's walking into the tardis and reacting to it! Bill's reaction was hilarious! "It's like a really posh kitchen.". 😂 Recently ruby's reaction to the tardis has become one of my favourites, it was so beautifully filmed and performed by millie gibson! And I have to be honest, although the chibnall era had its faults, the reaction of the thirteenth doctor and her fam when they stepped inside the tardis was really lovely! 😊😊

This was a Whittaker thing where they retconned the Doctor into being a super mythical chosen one from another dimension who brought regeneration to the Time Lords, thus ruining decades worth of content that proved that the Doctor's value to the universe comes from their kindness rather than some inherent superiority.

Did they ever have a scientist or nerdier companion who was pretty nonplussed about it and was all, "aah, must be a tesseract. Or some sort of controlled pocket dimension? Is the exterior some sort of obvious camouflage and if so why is it stuck in the 1960s? Does you still use fossil fuels or have you discovered crystallic fusion?"
