The Abbey is actually located in Sandia, TX. I work for a medical lab that routinely goes to the Abbey to pick up their medical specimens from time to time. It's a beautiful place. Seems so peaceful. Much respect and admiration

Are these videos about the Oriental Orthodox Church? Is it still Non-Chalcedonic and thus not in Communion with the Eastern Orthodox Church ?
@williamjameslehy13415 жыл бұрын
Yes, the Coptic Church is Oriental Orthodox and not formally in communion of with the Eastern Orthodox, though it's been mutually acknowledged that their theological differences have more to do with semantics than with real substance.

Just curious ? Why the woman doesn't cover up AN can wear pants at the monastery Not judging just asking Thank you

I have always wondered why women are not more cautious and considerate around catholic monks and young priests. This hugging and kisses business and pulling the guys to their chests is not appropriate. Naturally, the guys are not going to say much. And, it happens too often that young attractive women just really need to pull over young priest in training for special talk.

The Testament of Reuben: “For evil are women, my children; and since they have no power or strength over a man, they use wiles by outward attractions, that they may draw him to themselves. And whom they cannot bewitch by outward attractions, him they overcome by craft. For moreover, concerning them, the angel of the Lord told me, and taught me, that women are overcome by the spirit of fornication more than men, and in their heart they plot against men; and by means of their adornment they deceive first their minds, and by the glance of their eye instil the poison, and then through the accomplished act they take them captive.” “For a woman cannot force a man openly, but by a harlots bearing she beguiles him. Flee therefore fornication my children, and command your wives and your daughters, that they adorn not their heads and faces to deceive the mind: because every woman who uses these wiles hath been reserved for eternal punishment.” “For thus they (the women) allured the watchers [of heaven] who were before the flood; for as these (watchers) continually beheld them (women), they lusted after them, and they conceived the act in their mind; for they changed themselves into the shape of men, and appeared to them when they were with their husbands. And the women lusting in their minds after their forms, gave birth to giants, for the watchers appeared to them as reaching even unto heaven.” “Beware, therefore, of fornication; and if you wish to be pure in mind, guard your senses from every woman. And command women likewise not to associate with men, that they also may be pure in mind.”

Just you, your demons, introspection, reflection of God greatness in face of beauty of His creation, in the Desert or Water-filled Oaza, acknowledging our unworthiness while profoundly understanding only true happiness, fulfillment of Spirit, amongs many trick illusions, is in everlasting Holy Spirit.

It looks like a money making scheme for tourists better than a hotel looks like a sell . They have raised some more moral eyebrows
@undaunted76 жыл бұрын
....you trippin...they are monks..they don't accept tourists in at all?! The only way to go is with a Coptic Church under the auspicious of a Coptic priest and even then it needs to be per-approved by the monastery and IF it is approved it comes with per-conditions. There are exceptions, like sometimes families will come to participate in certain special events like epiphany liturgy or something like that, but again has to be per-approved and all that jazz and there is no guarantee you'll get to spend time with the monks. Also, the place where families stay is no 5 star hotel. We spent a lot of time fixing up the place while we were there (cuz we were there to learn and be a help to the monks). So I say again...you trippin

Not true at all. I have been to this Monastery many many times and I assure you it is truly a place of prayer and retreat, not a money-making scheme.
@matthabashy19808 ай бұрын
as someone who is here consistently i can confidently say there is no money making involved in staying its free of charge and a place for you to be one with God
