If the head of the church is aware of the problem can't he make a directive and it be followed by the priest without question. This is how the Copts came to encorporate English in their services.

well now that is possible, but for the past 27 years the Synod has been separated and no church or priest would listen to any Bishop due to many Political and Religious reasons. but now with the Schism ended, this is possible in the future.

Everyone is welcome. However, most of our churches operate in Ge’ez or Amharic, so it cab often be hard to find an English-speaking church. But even then, you are allowed within the church.

Some churches have English on a screen to follow along with Amharic and Ge’ez, while the Egyptian are mostly in English with Arabic and Copt. Go to both till you understand the liturgy.

Why do the Tewahedo Orthodox church use the Greek name 'iesous khristous' while the Ethiopian language itself is a Semitic language ? Why not use the original Hebrew Name Yeshua haMashiakh or the Aramaic Yeshu Meshikha ? While Ethiopia itself has an ancient connection to Israel and the Tewahedo church as I understand has preserved some Judaic practices. Can anyone explain ?

Bece the Christianity did not contacted to Jewish it connected with Christians that is Why the we translated the new testament to Greece and the inscription influence Ethiopian so they use iesous but the other name are same with Arabic and Hebrew and aramaic for example we say messih to say messya we say ppawlos to say pol wes say esayeeyas to say Isaiah and others

Something that can make more attractive to the youts is if you teach them that the Bible characters are black or dark skin colour but since some years the church is using white icons that can make a lack of identity. How can be pray a white Jesus if we see to white christians killing black people?. The youts are wise more than we believe. Etzabiher yebarke.

It's doesn't matter what skin color jesus was. On judgment day God isn't going to ask u if u believed in black skinned or light skinned version of him. Your faith and your actions are going to determine whether you will inherit the kingdom of life.

@@sunsett21 Much respect from an African American Catholic for many generations and proud of our shared apostolic faith and of our understanding of Yeshua and love of His Blessed Mother the true Theotokos. I believe we are still orthodox even if we are separated by so many ideas-Patriarch of the West will one day return to full fellowship and brotherhood wit tee East and I am ready for this though probably not in my lifetime. I do agree wit Ras-Yesus though, it is a theological and cultural and deeply spiritual abuse that Black Christians in the west have grown uo with mostly White images, proud my Black Catholic mother recognised this schizophrenia and would never allow a White Icon in our home, there were enough in the world. I think many Ethiopians can't undeerstand the pain it causes us Africans from the Diaspora perhaps because your church was never controlled by White men for the last 1,000 years of the church. Also, yur land was never conquered by White folks nor were you enslaved and so it makes sense you can have Black and White images in prayer and not think anything of it. You must be sensitive to our history and deep faith and allow us to glory in your African worship until the world can truly be free enough to worship without color but unfortunately, not here and not yet. Brother if you search for the history of many of the white icons of Jesus are the Church using nowadays the same of the Catholic church you will find that were make for homosexual people. So yes is very important were the white icons come. Also the history and the bible show that Jesus was Black or at least black skin. Also the Ethiopian art is much more beautiful. I prefer a Ethiopian icon much more than those European for many reasons. God bless you brother. Selma new
