So many villages in Africa are considered poor, however I see them as rich in culture and community spirit. Everyone helps for the betterment of their community, they look so happy. Mankind could learn from them rather than killing each other, and consuming more and more. Materialistic world, greed, when there's enough for everyone.
@91rummy6 жыл бұрын
true.. isnt it iironic that as people get richer, they get greedier?
@diddlydooha6 жыл бұрын
ABSOLUTELY rich. That was my comment before I read your. And it is not only Africa. All over the world. I went to Croatia where they just spread themselves out for me and did anything and everything for me. The same with a village in Romania and Poland. The less-materialistic the world, the better and the more loving the people!

It's the need for the Western & Urban way of living instead of the self sufficient way of native living that to a large extent has resulted in slums, poverty & dying out of centuries old practices. People need to adopt new ways but the use of old ways should be blended in & not forgotten. People used resources from what was locally available but now it's mostly about things not available locally thus creating demands that's not easily & cheaply fulfilled. Where Bamboo & clay could be used for walls now it's plastic, asbestos, etc

I’ve watched so many of Mark’s videos but this one was by far MY FAVORITE! Such unique and wonderful footage. I’ve seen lots of videos about Ethiopia but this one had NEW things. Very interesting how in the beginning of their trip to the village the man riding on the back of the vehicle said it was the “land of Judah”. This video was a treasure. Thanks Mark!

In 2006 I was very fortunate to work in Ethiopia in a very remote area. The village I was staying in is 400kilometres west of Addis Ababa. I was there as a midwife and what an amazing experience. The Ethiopian people are lovely and greet you with Great warmth. While I was there I took lots of photos and wrote lots of newsletters, what we would call blogs now. In the middle of my 6 months I travelled up north and did the tourist trail and learnt a lot about the history of the country. During Covid I have been reading all my writings and looking at my photos and videos. The technology was not as advanced as it is now. It would be great to revisit the village and see the people again and see if obstetric care has improved. I shall put that on my bucket list. Any body out there wishing to make a documentary get in touch. I have been a midwife in the UK for over 25 years and retired now. While I was in Ethiopia I saw things that I would never have seen in a developed country.

Ethiopians have some of the most beautiful people on earth. The culture goes way back to the Bible. Moses, a Jew, married an Ethiopian woman named Zephora and they had kids. It was once a wealthy country and when the Ethiopian Queen heard about Solomon, King of Israel, she went to see for herself all the stories she heard. She was so impressed she spent months at his palace... and she brought with her many gifts for the King. I noticed the cross in the truck and thank God they are still living their Christian tradition up to this day. Thanks for a lovely video.
