Did the voiceover bloke just call Napoleon a tyrant? So old fashioned of him and he'll get the Americans all confused, God bless the Empire I say.

WRONG!! 36:50 WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG !!!! The episode referred to by Capt Alexander Mercer regarding the distribution of a captured cask of rum to his soldiers prior to the Waterloo battle was IN FACT described by my 4x great uncle Sgt Daniel Dunnett of the Rocket Troop of the Royal Horse Artillery, a sister unit to Mercer's G Troop, on the morning after the battle, not before. It appears in a letter to Capt H.W. Siborne, who spent many years constructing a detailed history of the battle, relying on written accounts provided by key participants. The similarity of your "quote" by Mercer to the original by Dunnett is too close to be accidental, and i have never seen it in Mercer's own accounts. It has been lifted from Dunnett's origiinal letter, which is available in the British Library and various books more faithful to the truth than this video. Dunnett had served in the Royal Horse Artillery since 1800, and in 1813 he accompanied the Rocket Troop to the Battle of Nations in Leipzig in October 1813, when Napoleon was trying to regain control of Germany from the allies. The Rocket Troop was attached to the bodyguard of the Swedish Crown Prince Bernadotte and was the sole unit representing the British Army. During the battle, they made such an impression on the Russian Tsar Alexander that he removed his own Order of St Ann medal and awarded it to Lieut Strangways, who had temporarily assumed command of the Rocket Troop after the death of Capt Bogue during a headlong charge at the French. To this day, the unit drinks a toast to the Swedish Crown at its annual celebration dinner each October, and its flag, by royal consent, bears the royal colours of Sweden.
