This was an amazing short doc. I was captivated from the very start. The transition from the tragedy to the solution was very strong: just fading in from black and the police officer coming made me feel like a hero was coming to silence the storm.

Impressive how much one can do with an SL 60. So many people show off their Aputure 300D's and 1200 watt lights. @@blasepivovar Super inspirational. 🙌🏼 I’ve been a photographer for 25 years. Hi Blase Pivovar.I have a question that I would like to know, why youtube cinematographers, the ones that I can see on the front page, their videos are very solid in fundamentals, including technique and narrative rhythm, it seems like many of the videos that I randomly click in, I can see that the basic skills are solid and often have little to do with the number of fans, but the situation in China is more variable. My question is, what kind of market environment does this happen in and what is the state of their film learning path? Thank you so much!
@blasepivovar Жыл бұрын
Hey Jeffery! Thanks for the question. I actually am not sure I have a good answer to that with only ever living in the United States. I can only really speak for myself and my experience as I am not sure what other peoples filmmaking journeys have been like and how that has intersected for them with posting on youtube. Appreciate you asking me!

hey man, iam on video ativism, social-eco stuff, since my house burned down in the portuguese forest fires of 2017. like thers a urge to use your weapon of choice (video in my case) to give visibility to just causes. i could talk and ask here for many things ( do check my playlist video ativism here in youtube), but my main question is: i live with very little money, is the xs20 a better option than the xh2s in terms of price-quality- usability for volunteer work? i ask this in the perspective of knowing that when you dont have money you should invest in the best option. is the xh2s stand for the next 5-7 years? ( second question).. many thanks for any input from the community ( from a xt3 user that is thinking on doing nothing in terms of new cameras and just buy the ninja v)

Hi. I like your feature film. But I'm not too fond of your backdrop. It is really good that you consider the aesthetics of the interview scenes, but I think the aesthetics of the backdrop are far from the context. It is good if the background of an interview in a subtle way underlines, reinforces and leads the viewer on the right track, and it is important that it does not signal anything other than the subject, as it will often confuse or distract some of the audience, stylistically your backdrop is far from the subject. I occasionally make videos about refugee projects and other projects for children, and am always on the lookout for useful backgrounds, notice boards with information or drawings, posters and the like that have to do with the project. It is also not always bad if you can hear the activities in the background, children who are happy etc. or images with children playing in the background, as long as the sound level is appropriate so that it does not destroy speech understanding, and the background is appropriately blurred. Having written all this, I hasten to add that the backdrop is only a small thing and that I really like your film. It made me put myself in the children and grown-up's place, which must be the success criterion for this type of production. It might have been good with a few more interviews with the children, but I know it can be difficult for many reasons. The pictures and lighting are very good and the editing is smooth and the cuts are perfectly timed. Good luck with your next productions😊. Mike
