This type of content is game changing! Can you do the classic light bouncing lead leg stance next? I see fighters like John Wayne Parr and Jonathan Haggerty use this stance a lot so it must be a strong stance. Thanks again for this information Coach.

@@clapdrix72 alamos recommends putting more weight on the front leg in his more recent seminars
@clapdrix724 ай бұрын
@@ramanmonkey Yeah I've seen them, they're fantastic. I misread the comment, I thought it was the opposite. Although Alamos did use a light foot a fair amount in his fights. Saenchai though almost never uses a light front foot.

Interesting. I get it. I joined a Bruce Lee group 35 years ago. JKD also puts the rear heel up, and is on the front toe with 50/50 weight distribution. Sometimes 60/40, with more weight on rear leg. We did use the reverse pendum to retreat. We did learn Muy Thai via Chai Sirusite, Saekson Janjira and others , but I never learned this BUT I’m working it now as an old man. Love it

Yeah, agree, changing the stance gives you more options. Good video

Great content, keep it coming!! One other thing I've found with the 70/30 is that with more weight on my front leg I'm actually able to throw my front teep faster because I can explode off of it shifting my weight up slightly and to the rear leg. So the front leg not only has upward momentum from pushing off the ground but also is assisted in its upward trajectory with the backwards shifting body weight. When you're in the Sagat stance, you really only have your hip abductors to lift your leg which have a poor leverage geometry on a stationary leg. Add a jab to a hair-trigger front teep and you can dominate the distance game with relative ease.

Tried this sparring this week. My front leg keeps getting punished. Anybody got any tips for this?

Coach, i fight really good from this stance but I only run into one problem when I use it though. I struggle to defend leg kicks when I have someone who likes to throw a lot of leg kicks. Since i have all my weight on the front leg I always try to pull my leg back since it’s hard to pick it up for a check. Is there a good way to defend leg kicks from this stance?
@IronboyExperience6 ай бұрын
There are a few ways to do it. One is to pull the leg back yes, other is to sit back (can be dangerous), lastly having awareness to change bases depending on the situation. So that you are already in a better base to check low kicks. Hit me up on IG @MikeIronboy and send me a DM if you have further questions I can help brother 👊
