The weird ways you guys play this game reminds me of how - in Dodgeball - I used to stand right at the right or left edge of the field, at the line of the opposing team's field, and nobody would hit me. I just stood there silently like "a pillar of salt" (that's literally how I imagined it as a kid) until a PE teacher stomped up to the opposing team and told them to finally throw the balls at me.
