I am... way late for this, but... I've loved watching Jello's streams for years. I love Oz, I love Yam, I love Jello, I love Will, I love Dani so much. Before this stream, the worst I could say would be that Jello has opinions that I don't agree with that he offers forcefully, as if they should be the only valid opinions. Which is whatever, almost everyone does that. But god, the night of Bea's party, and *all* of them hating on Mae? For that moment, I hated every single one them. This is what the game is *about.* This is the reason for the game's *existence.* People with differing mental schema are so often treated as if they're supposed to... just... *get it.* And for whatever reason, they don't! When Mae was ruining Bea's night, did *anyone* go, "Hey, wait, little autistic girl, this isn't the kind of thing that's important to say right now. Let's sort out our thoughts and figure out the ones to say right now, and the ones to save for a smaller setting. Let's think about what we're saying and who we might be hurting"? No. Not a single person did that. Should they *have* to do that? For a "regular" human being, no! For Mae? For someone whose brain is hard-wired *against* that and who needs a lot of training (which they haven't gotten) in order to do it? Absolutely! To just treat her like trash because of a skill that everyone always expected her to know, without anyone ever teaching her? To just sit there and watch the train wreck happen while being fully capable of stopping it, and *knowing* it's gonna happen because of their *years* of knowing Mae and what she's like? Literally *nobody* is helping Mae with her real problems. Not a *single... effing... character.* That's real life. That's what real life is like for a lot of the neurodivergent. And then for the crew to just shit on her, treating her as if she were a completely well-adjusted adult, when the entire point of the last, what, 10 hours of playtime, was that she's not? It was just... aaaagh. I have a pithy quote that sums up Mae: "That makes it understandable, but not acceptable." For the entire crew to just refuse to understand her, and just dismiss her out of hand as an asshole, is *the entirety of what's wrong with how we treat the neurodivergent.* At some point, we have to stop with the "Why don't you understand!?" and start with "Fine, you don't understand. Stupid, but you don't. How do we get you to understand?"
