There are a couple tuning shops that can get you big performance while retaining your warranty. If you buy a SpeedFactory SF600 Challenger (600hp supercharged SRT8 with reworked suspension and various other things) you get a three-year warranty, and it's right at that $60,000 price point. There are some options you can add on as well, such Pilot Sport PS2 tires, some chassis reinforcement, and other things usually found with the SF600R (though the R itself doesn't appear to have the warranty.)

They provide you with more options that any other NA Manufacturer right now eg naturally aspirated GT350 turns 10.97 sec. New King Cobra also in 10 sec bracket and watch for the big muscle, the Halo GT500 which is suppose to be ridiculous.

In this case, Road and Track even specifies that the GT350 is not a production (factory) vehicle. It has modifications completed at Shelby Automotive. That is like saying the Hennessy Viper is a factory car because it was factory Viper that has been modified.

Not if you get an SF600 like I mentioned, with the three-year warranty. It may void the factory warranty because it's modified, but SpeedFactory gives you a SpeedFactory warranty in place of the one from Chrysler. If the car breaks itself, they will fix it for you for the first three years. And fortunately, Challengers have very strong transmissions. The WA580 automatic was behind an AMG Mercedes, and the TR6060 manual was borrowed from the Viper. The weakest link are the half-shafts.

I was disappointed in the video. If you want to compare muscle to muscle, put them on a straight quarter mile track and let's see the times & speeds. Anybody that grew up in the 60's knows this is how you measure muscle & HP, not on a track. Also, you can't compare a supercharged engine with a non-super charged engine. In the 60's, Chrysler Hemi's NEVER had a problem with a Ford or a Mustang, not even a big blocked Ford Torino. The Mustang may have a chance in the quarter with it's supercharger, but w/o it the outcome would have been the same as the 60's on the quarter mile.....The Dodge Hemi putting the Mustang in it's (2nd) place,

actually in the 60s Mopar was at a crisis when their cars Dodge Charger rt reaches its optimum rpm it has a fault where the vehicle comes to an acute combustion ( catches fire) they did had a problem with the Mustang. but most of all they had a problem with GM's Corvette Stingray, Ford Motor Company's Ford Gran Torino. they have an aero dynamic package. that's the reason why Mopar came up with the Plymouth Superbird to keep up with the Mustang, Torino, and Corvette Stingray on the track. and still Mopar fails to take on Chevy and Ford.

They're both beautiful. Being stuck in a wheelchair for life, I need an Automatic to drive. I had a 69 Z28 Hurst 4Spd. Camaro when I was a young man (before wheelchair) and it was awesome. Maybe not the fastest, and it cornered like crap considering the lightweight rear end of the car, but it was dependable enough to take across country on a road trip and ~fun~ to drive. These two cars offer up the same kind of "fun to drive" and they show that the spirit of muscle cars is still alive and well.

A new mustang can be had for about 29K with the Brembo package and add the Ford stage 2 supercharger and it rates at 624 HP for @ 35K total price. Also the Stage one kit is rated 560 HP and does not completely void the warranty, although all that remains is only one year, 12000 miles.

They're both great cars, I myself bought a 05 mustang and over the past year, ever since I got man I really noticed they're everywhere. Ive bought a lot of things to make mine stand out (grill, new headlights, louvers, mirror covers, ect) but the ratio of challengers to mustang I see is like 1-5. I wish I could of afforded a challenger I would of bought that over my mustang just because I enjoy the uniqueness, both are excellent cars though.

drvn1 The Challenger is not tuned fully, which is why the Charger Super Bee, with the same stuff under the hood, beats it in a race. Not to mention that the Mustang has to run a supercharger, to where the Challenger is straight engine power. Do all the mods to the Challenger, as there are on that Mustang, and it's a completely different ending. You want to see a modded Challenger, go look at the Hennessy Challenger. Now THAT is what happens when it gets modded.

Really?? well the mustangs sure are great like every American Muscle but, based on my experience the Challenger HAS better of everything since it has the famous HEMI on his frame. The Chrysler Hemi engine is a homerun that they create more than 50 years ago and no other can achieve this up to date the mustang can be a lil bit lighter since it has a regular 302 4.6 Liter, but in the torque HP and speed Challenger wins the bout having the legendary hemi inside his body indeed.

The gt500 is not sent to shelby. Its comes out as a shelby right from ford's factory, unless you're talking about the SuperSnake GT500, which is the one that shelby upgrades to putdown 800HP.

Elvin Decker. Not sure you know about the Ford Shelby GT 500. This car is manufactured at the Ford plant. I own a 2014. Now as far as the Shelby Super Snake, Shelby 750, 850, 1000 or wide body they are all upgraded at the Shelby Manufacturing business in Las Vegas. After owners of the Shelby GT 500 purchase when ready ship or drive the car to Shelby for upgrades.

That's because the GT500 was to compete versus the Vette and Viper (hence the price tag), of which it is lacking against. The 5.0 was their attempt at keeping up with SRT and SS, and though they came close, they are still slower. The only reason that you are even coming close is because Ford unleashed all they could from that little 5.0 engine without supercharging it, and the larger SS and SRT8 engines are held back. When their computers are tweaked, they are almost a full second quicker.

I purchased a brand new Mustang Cobra in 1993 for $20500.00 ( last year for the fox body & the first year for the return of the Mustang Cobra since 79 ) The cost was $2000.00 more than a GT coupe.I would smoke LT1's all day long, then in 1998 Chevrolet started dropping the LS1's in the Camaro & Corvette..In 1999 i traded my 93 Cobra in for an SS 6-speed that was $26000.00.Today i couldn't even think about owning one of these cars between the Outrageous price insurance & gas..ri FUCKING diculous.

yeah the 392 does against the ss and 5.0, but the 5.0 and ss is meant to compete against the r/t challenger. they 392 is meant to go agaist the gt500 and zl1 thats what i meant.

The shelby gt500 retails at 54k, and in my case my best friend owns a ford dealership so I get a discount. But 4k more than 50k still isn't that bad if you can't make a deal at the dealership. It's a pretty good price to power ratio.

I actually like the shelby gt350. they technically made it in the 05-09 model with the Shelby CS8.Same concept. But it also reminds me how Parnelli Jones went to Saleen in 05 and had them build a Boss 302 car that looked like his original, then ford made the Boss in 2012 using the 5.0 block Saleen used and said it was the first boss made since the 60s..

Ok, did anyone else hear the end of the commentary? The performance enhancements on the SRT8 enable it to compete squarely with the likes of the Camaro SS and the Mustang GT. So, this Video is show of the top of the line of what each of these vehicle represent. Both are pretty bad-ass.

There are rumors of a Challenger ACR, and a Challenger TA being made, which both will have huge weight reductions. The Challenger doesn't need a different body style. Anyone who loves muscle cars loves the roots, and typically, true gearheads will tell you the Challenger is by far the best looking. Also, the new "muscelcars" were created too be modern versions of the cars they were in the 60's and 70's, not just another sports car. The Challenger is the only one that is what it's supposed to be.

And to add to my point, since the 302 Boss Leguna Seca and GT 500 and Rousche are all racing modified versions of a stock car, then it would only be fair to put them up against a racing modified version of the M3 which would be the M3 GTS which would completely humiliate all of those mustang modles along with the Camaro ZR1 and Camaro Hennessey tuned Camaro and Dodge's SRT line. Then the Mercedes has their SL line which can either be tuned by Brabuss, AMG or their BLACK edition line.

Not to mention if you buy even a $30k Mustang GT, you don't buy it mainly because it's good performance for the money, you buy it mainly because you love it. Personally, if I had the money, I'd have the modern Mustang GT, Boss 302 LS, Shelby GT500, Camaro SS, Camaro ZL1, Challenger SRT8 392, and a bunch of tuned versions of the aforementioned cars like the Shelby GT350, Roush RS3 Mustang, and HPP Superbird. I'm a Ford man myself. My uncle is a Dodge dealer, and he's let me test-drive a couple of Challengers. They look amazing, but I honestly don't care for the way they feel from the inside. (e.g. the windows are too short.) That said, I agree. It's BS to put something special-made by Shelby up against a stock Dodge.

I also forgot to add. All these cars can beat these two cars at EVERY competition than just the quarter mile. Beat you around the track, 0-60, 60-0, quarter mile, half-mile, full- mile drag. Actually, the SRT8 is faster than both the Mustang GT, and the Camaro SS. And, you're wrong, the gt500 is not meant to compete with the SRT8. The SRT8 is actually Dodge's vehicle on the same level as the GT 5.0, and the SS. Dodge never made a car to compete with the ZL1 or GT500.

I for one dont really understand why the challenger of today is ranked against the camaro and mustangs of today. The Challenger is a muscle car, while the other two are sports cars. And besides, I have beat a Shelby in an R/T Challenger (vid on my channel for non believers) driver means a lot more than HP.

Neither the Mustang nor the Camaro are sports cars they're both pony cars (or muscle cars depending on the variant). And the Challenger isn't technically a muscle car it's classified as a pony car the Charger is dodge's muscle car. The only American sports cars still made are the Corvette and the Viper

as a matter of fact i do know someone who sent a challenger off to get supercharged (procharger actually) and i can tell you first hand what happened. just shy of 600hp. had to change the rear tires to a set of mickey t's street slicks just so the car can turn corners without breaking the tires loose every time. it's sick fast. no snow (obviously), no rain because you ain't gonna go anywhere even with the traction control on. mustangs? it would take a gt500- all others waste of time.

Well if they are putting a car that's 4k+ lbs with 470hp and is nothing really special against a car like the gt350 that must say something about how well dodge is doing. The hellcat is gonna destroy this car and many other pony cars for that matter. I'm a GM guy and I ain't bothered by saying that the hellcat is probably the most bang for your buck pony/muscle car on market plus it looks better. Ford has ran there course with the mustang. It's washed up. GM is still kicking ass with the camaro and dodge is just getting started so get ready for the tables to turn in the pony war. That's facts guys

it's not turbo'd it's supercharged and you do buy it from a dealership just has to be ordered... it says in the video that the challenger 392 only makes 45 more horse power than a non 392 challenger, a regular srt8 challenger cost around 26k and a srt8 392 challenger cost 44k so your telling me that your gonna pay the 18k difference for 45 more horsepower and a badge??? i would not

You obviously dont know what you are talking about. All of the SRT8 is the 392 cid. They used to be 6.1L in 09 and 10. But in 2011 they stroked it to the 6.4L 392.

I had no idea there was a GT350 in the S197 bodystyle. Though 525HP is actually pretty disappointing, considering the 2012 GT was 411HP. They probably de-tuned the whipple so that it wouldn't be more powerful than the GT500. It would have been much cheaper just to put a whipple on a GT than to get this GT350. At least the S550 GT350 had the 5.2 Voodoo instead of the same 5.0 as the GT.

Ford didn't throw in the supercharger, Shelby did. The Challenger is stock from the factory, unless you wanted a SMS Challenger "Saleen" and they throw a supercharger on the Challenger. -The Challenger is factory stock, The Mustang is modified. Not exactly a fair video.

supercharged my bad, i was wrong there, but the comparison between two challengers is not what's being addressed in this video, nor what my comment was directed towards. What I am saying is it is not a fair comparison to make, comparing an aftermarket ford to a stock dodge, the mustang had ford performance parts and also a Schelby motor in it. But to address your question, I will answer it with one of my own would you really rather spend double the money on a mustang that only has 55 more hp?

You are severely misinformed. The base model V8, the R/T, makes 375hp for 30k. The SRT8 makes 470hp for 45k. Difference of 100hp there, not 45hp. If you're talking about the old SRT8 (6.1L), then you're still misinformed. It cost about the same, and had 45hp less.
