Dodge/Chrysler 5.7L Water pump replacement

At least this water pump was easy to get to, but the shame of it is the fact that I seam to have to work on this truck a lot, not something you would expect to be doing on a vehicle with that low of miles on it, just over 80,000 and that you just paid over $20,000 for, well as soon as I get the exhaust manifold leak/ broken bolts fixed then it will be time to cut my looses and get rid it.
Hope it stays together long enough!
And I definitely will not be in the market for another Chrysler product!

Awesome video and explanation of the job ahead was spot on. I recently took my 2014 Challenger 5.7L in for an alternator recall and was told my water pump was bad. Dealership in Chattanooga Tn Crown Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram Fiat off 153HWY wanted over 900$ to replace. Thanks to your video I replaced myself with QUALITY parts and saved myself 500+ dollars and avoided a shady dealership as well.

I appreciate and enjoyed your video. I just got to work this morning and my 15' Charger R/T just started steaming under the hood as I got to the office. Popped the hood and coolant is dripping a steady stream right from beneath the water pump. I also been hearing that frog like noise for a while but haven't had any free time to take it in. I'm glad I know what that noise is now and glad I'm still under warranty 🙏🏾. Just hit 75k and didn't realize how shitty these pumps are. I'll have them tow it too.

All MOPAR water pumps are defective it seems I love THE HEMI BUT THAT DAMN WATER PUMP IS A MAJOR ISSUE

Connect lower water pump hose to pump before mounting pump saves trouble dealing with hose clamp and you will not need to go under vehicle to slide clamp on as some do.

I have a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee with this exact same engine and setup. Water pump went out with bad bearings. Luckily it was covered under power train warranty. Few weeks later got a letter from FCA saying they are having problems with these water pumps and are extending the warranty on the water pump from five to seven years. Hopefully they fixed the issue. If not I’m covered for another two years. Good walkthrough though. If I have another problem out of warranty I know I can do it now watching your video.

Great video. I have 117,000 on my 300 srt 6.4. So I'm pretty sure I will have to change my soon. 6.4 is set up like the 5.7.

This thing was idled lots and lots. The Hemi does not like low oil pressure idling, this has been seen with police forces, they have all learned to run the pentastar. That's what happened to your cam and lifters, idled to death on fair oil. The water pump failed at that mileage is further confirmation of all that idling. Sometimes you win on a used car sometimes you lose, I dare say this one had lots of runtime hours on it. Chrysler also had a cam hardening issues for these Hemis for a few years. Once you do the exhaust manifold I would hang onto it. You did well fixing it yourself, might as well reap the rewards of that instead of someone else.

Strange! Camshaft replacement? I got a 14' Charger with no issues like this. Everythings sealed tight. Sorry you got these issues.

My 2011 charger hemi has just started leaking out of the wheel behind it so I'm looking at 6 to 7 hundred to replace or ican give it a shot replacing it my self if I had help it would be good as my body is weak from illness now but unfortunately I do not have anyone so if I do it myself it may take two days to get done but I'm undecided I need the car but don't have the money to just throw away almost a grand unless I wanna start living in the charger so I'm stuck with a non driving car at the moment

MY WATER PUMP WENT OUT AT 16,000 then again at 73,000 miles PHUC MOPAR WATER PUMP GET AFTERMARKET OR A PERFORMANCE ONE FROM SUMMIT SHYT AUTOZONE OR NAPA WILL PROBABLY BE WAY BETTER NEVER USE A MOPAR WATER PUMP
