Do you recommend draining coolant before changing water pump mine hasn’t gone bad just squealing on start then goes away so far
@EfurdGarage
@EfurdGarage 2 жыл бұрын
you can and depending on mileage its worth it since most coolant you should change it after x amount of miles.

Great video, just how long would you say for the coolant to reach and cycle through the water pump to get to the radiator and start dripping from water pump plug?
@EfurdGarage
@EfurdGarage Жыл бұрын
It didnt take very long, It also depends on how much coolant you drain too.
@imhyper5490
@imhyper5490 Жыл бұрын
@@EfurdGarage Thank you, but I ran into a problem...I did what you shown in the video however but now the coolant isn't reaching the radiator through the water after I filled so it drain through and my car still overheats. No leaks or anything, just not going through the water pump to the radiator. Any idea why?
@EfurdGarage
@EfurdGarage Жыл бұрын
@@imhyper5490 should be good and the water pump should be moving the water. Fans kicking on and have you checked the oil?

Was it over heating ? Mine is sending water back to the reservoir, bubbling and Boiling coming out of the overflow and temperature, gage steadily, rising what could that be?
@EfurdGarage
@EfurdGarage Жыл бұрын
yea but the pump went out so it was leaking out the hole and on to the belt. Well if you start it cold and its already bubbling out before the car is warm then it could be a head gasket
@coreywhite4603
@coreywhite4603 Жыл бұрын
@@EfurdGarage I really appreciate you taking time to respond. It means a lot.. yes after about 20 minutes of running it start sending fluids back to the reservoir bubbling and coming out of the overflow. I had just put a thermostat on 2 weeks before this situation showed up . no leaks anywhere but yet after 20 minutes or so of running this is what it does.
@EfurdGarage
@EfurdGarage Жыл бұрын
@@coreywhite4603 ok after 20 mins of running odds are its not head gaskets. Could be pump. Could be thermostat sticking even if it is new. Could be a collapsing cooling hose. Fans could be weak they should be kicking on and flowing enough to cool.. And just to chrck you Did you bleed the system after the thermostat?
@coreywhite4603
@coreywhite4603 Жыл бұрын
@@EfurdGarage yes I did bleed it. You just made a good point about the collapse water hose. One of them are looking suspect.. thanks a whole bunch once again . Inwill also change that thermostat out again.

I took your advice on changing out my thermostat in which I had just put on two weeks ago, and would not have guessed it could have been that but turns out it was. I would like to thank you again

@EfurdGarage

Vairys, depends on tools and experiance. Of course if everything goes smooth. But around 2 is not a bad time frame

@@EfurdGarage yeah it might cost $2 more to make it. My drivers side bents are stuck on hot air. Im sure the gear from the servo motor is broken that moves the vent door. 🙄Ever seen a cable setup break?
@EfurdGarage
@EfurdGarage 2 жыл бұрын
@@britjohnson1990 yea ever since they went to blend door actuators i always here issues with them. I have seen a few cable setups break but it took way longer then the newer stuff
@britjohnson1990
@britjohnson1990 2 жыл бұрын
@@EfurdGarage yeah they can fail no doubt. Cables are good for light duty stuff like chokes or vents. I used to shake my head when I first saw the mustangs with the cable clutch linkage🙄
@britjohnson1990
@britjohnson1990 2 жыл бұрын
Hahaha! Exactly. I remember in the early 90s seeing the mustang cable clutches that the ford kids had and laughing. They would get a hipo pressure plate and it would stretch or break.

It really does. I do have air tools. But most of the time its a hassle to get to my compressor, turn it on, un roll the hose etc. I always have to move the gto in order to even get to it.
