Just bought a Bronco Raptor here in San Diego. The discount was unbelievable. Got the numbers put together and they hid the add ons in a very ambiguous acronym right next to the tax line. Told them to explain the extra $4500 and it became apparent they were hoping that I wouldn’t notice. No addendum sticker on the vehicle, just that one line on the number sheet. One would think that I was taking food off of their table when I told them that I would immediately walk if they didn’t come back with an out the door price, minus their bs add ons (KARR, “ceramic,” edge guards, etc.) Don’t fall for their greasy pity party. If they don’t stop you before you walk out the door; they will call you and offer a price without the add ons. Decent dealers are very few and further in between.

All these scams and tricks the dealers do just drive people away. It’s not just Dodge because I almost bought a Ford F150, but couldn’t work with the dealer. Now that we have Hyundai selling directly off of Amazon and other direct-to-consumer brands like Tesla, these dealers need to think twice before making it so difficult. I wish there was something like Saturn, where you knew the price and the dealer wasn’t trying to scam you. As always keep up the great videos!

I went to about 8 different dealers looking for a truck. I gave up. Every one tried to rip me off. A Ford dealer quoted me more than the new MSRP for a 2022 F-150 used. Every dealer had a "crap" sticker. Like The "addendums", "dealer fee", "Market adjustment", "Electronic filing fee", etc.

I jut bought a used Acura MDX, actually from Camelback Ford here in Phoenix for my wife. Ironic it’s a Ford dealership, lol. They tried to charge me for Zaktek that I know to be factual was not on the vehicle. So for $500 they tried to rip me off for, now I’ll never go back to that dealership. It burns me up that almost all dealers put these add-ons onto new cars and even used cars.😠 I've even asked a few CDJR dealerships if they would not even add them, as the car hadn't even been delivered to the dealership from the factory, just so I didn't have to deal with these items as part of the negotiations, and none of them would do it. If you're insistent, they will drop these charges during negotiations, but they are relying on the fact that most people aren't hip to this, won't push it, and unfortunately most consumers probably pay it. To me, this is "Consumer Fraud" and every dealer who does this should be sued (perhaps as part of a class action case). Mark ups can range from $1,500 to $4,500. Outrageous! It may include the door edge guards, fabric protection spray (which may cause cancer), locking lug nuts (like you exposed in this episode), nitro-fill for the tires, which you can get for free at Costco, and sometimes GPS trackers. They do this so if you fail to make the payments, the repo man will know exactly where to find the car. If a car has been sold once or twice, have the old door edge guards been removed and replaced, or is it all just a scam? If the original purchaser paid for the GPS tracker, I guess they'll add another one, so some of these cars, if sold 3-4 times, could have 3-4 tracking devices on them. Crazy! As others have said, they are sealing their own demise. Keep up the good work!

I went to my dealership because the key fob display on my message center said low battery. Since my car was under warranty at the time, I took it in. They said no. That both the vehicle battery and the key fob battery only carry a 1 year warranty. But he would gladly replace my battery for $38.00. AIN'T HAPPENING! I got on KZbin, figured out how to change my battery, and went to Walgreens. $14.00 bought me a pair of batteries. This is why I drive my cars until they die, and do all the repairs and maintenance myself.

I bought my Hellcat used w the Maxcare Warranty. I don't recommend ever buying a used Hellcat unless you know the car or owner and or buy a warranty. So far, I've had the supercharger and rear diff replaced. I still need to have the engine looked at for some kind of rattle under acceleration. Just a FYI for those looking at used Hellcats.

Brad, I use to work at a parts store 15 years ago, used to sell McGurad locks, can almost guarantee that's who makes them for the dealers still today. They cost us $15 and we would sell them for $25 and the dealers back then sold them for $75. Obviously just the way they try and make more money off the customer with all this add on crap. Look at that white jeep you looked at, $700 for a "security system" well did they put it in or was it done by the previous owner. The vehicle has one from the manufacturer most likely too. Everyone doing addendums nowadays. A well known, official Dodge dealer added $1,500 on my Scat for their stupid MOPAR EVTS. Which was jumped from my OBD reader and caused my car to throw an Electric Power Steering warning that randomly knocked out my power steering while I was driving! Took it off and power steering came right back. It legit looked like the crack-head at the local tire shop installed it and had a little button with a phone icon and blue light that they stuck to the dash right above the headlight controls. Later found out it was literally useless as it also required a monthly subscription to remain active after first three months. This stuff is getting outta control with these dealers!

There are some honest dealers but tough to find. I bought a 24 Toyota 4 Runner TRD Pro in Terra at MSRP...69K CDN or 49K USD. No markup and they included wheel locks, cargo cover, trailer hitch, all season rubber mats at no cost and they even removed the 1K Document fee. I did have to wait 8 months but the dealer even provided updates as to where in transit the vehicle was. Shopping around definitely paid off.

Personally I never rely on OEM wheel locks. The first thing thieves are prepared for is OEM wheel locks. At least if you buy aftermarket locks, they may not have the correct tool to remove them. But OEM locks? They will probably have the same key the dealers use.

On a new car, just negotiate the price of the actual car and then tell the dealer you refuse to pay for dealer add ons. They cant do anything. On a used car, screw them. I'd offer rough trade value if they tried that crap.

I need a new side x side, was dealing with a can-am dealer, he offered to take 3k right off the sticker and almost seemed too willing and ready to do so, then after he left his desk for a bit, I checked online, and of course there was a manufacturer rebate from Can-Am for, guess what?.. $3k bucks on certain atv/utv's.. When I asked him about it, I said, looks like im gonna get a real good deal today, I just found there is a $3k rebate on this model so its now only gonna be $24k, of boy did he stutter and backpedal, needless to say, I left with that machine and $6k off due to his bullshit..

Look at the new Charger, it's around $2000 dollars for the software upgrade on the same car. It's like when they added a special badge and color and charged a crazy amount for that too. Prices are affected by supply and demand, so a rare car or truck will bring what the market demands. Any retail business owner would be a fool if he didn't base his prices that way. (up OR down) I sold Fords for nearly 30 years, and once sold a Shelby GT350 with a $10k addendum sticker - I netted an extra $4,000 in commission!
