Our local police department had a fleet of Dodge Diplomats and Plymouth Grand Furys. The Novi, Michigan Police Department went to Chevy Caprices in 1989 after these cars went out of production.

LoL- I just bought an '88 Dippy cop car from an old machinist's estate for less than $255 out-the-door. Weirdly, was given an '88 Gran Fury cop car last June. Now I have 2

Nice! Those are like hen's teeth here in the south. Departments here always bought Ford or Chevy, just like what the good ole boys fix up. Not Mopar.

Shit box dodges are a dollar a dozen in the midwest. The Crown Vics and Caprices are sweet too. But I got soft spot for the crappy old dodges.

@@junkman7426 Shit Box Dodges were very popular at NYPD when they had most of them in the entire 80s through Early 90s.

@@junkman7426 I have a soft spot for older Mopar iron too. I've had several old retired M cars from various police stations, all bought at auctions for dirt. Like Bs and Cs, these old M police cars are starting to really go up in price now, and are becoming hard to find in reasonable shape. At 1 time I had 6 of them, 81-88. Now I just have 1, an 84 ex Il state police pursuit car that never had light bars installed ( IE, a slick top) . Back in it's day, somebody must've loved it, as it had very little body filler in it as I found after a full strip down and repaint in the factory Night Watch Blue. This car still has the factory TQ carb and relocated ESC unit, as well as the 120 certified speedo and aux gauges. And get this: It still has the original R12 a/c system on it, and it still works!

Does anyone in the comments know what a 78 dodge diplomat coupe is worth, no police package just a old dodge
@bultacowally5 жыл бұрын
@Dan The Man ...more like $45...those old lean burn MOPARS are definitely at the bottom of most car enthusiasts "gotta have" list. Except for the special edition models certainly nothing great or special about them. Most of them were gutless with their pathetic smog 318's or slant 6's. Even the cop cars. And no 360 after 1980. Most larger police forces ended up buying Camaros or Mustangs for Pursuit cars back then....what does that tell you??? And the rubber mounted everything transverse torsion bar suspensions didn't handle as good as the older stye torsion bar MOPES. After1978 right through the Iacocca and Daimler (sp.???) years Chryslers were....NOT TOO GOOD........
