Question my van 2016 .. I turn car off then on then it goes into gear .. why does it do that ? Can a check engine light from another issue throw it off ?? As I have a cylinder 3 injector code . Getting repaired Monday .. this gear thing didn’t occur until today a day after check engine lite came on

Hi, unfortunately I've never heard of that problem and can't give an advice. Could be somehow connected to the check engine light, but more thorough diagnostic would have to be done

Hmmm try jiggling the key in the ignition lock from off to on and see if that releases the shifter. if not it might be a problem with interlock solenoid or brake switch. Hard to say without looking at the vehicle

Hey most likely problem is the brake light switch or maybe interlock solenoid. That's where I would look at first

Not yet, but Dodge does, as they have added the button to the car as a featured. I believe it's in the owner manual, but not why they need the button.... Design flaw???

Yes many times. Usually it is a problem with the ignition lock / cylinder. Also it could happen if shifter is not in P mode. Try jiggling the key, unlocking the steering wheel if it is locked or shaking the shifter. If nothing works somebody will have to look at that lock

Hi, if you can't start the vehicle while in P mode and foot on the brake then most likely you are dealing with a failed brake light switch. That would be my first guess
