I love my R/T 5.7. It beats the snot out of most of what's on the road. It runs great on 87 and gets really good hwy mileage - I get over 30mpg. This is a great car if you want something that looks fantastic, very retro muscle car and doesn't cost a fortune. I'm tired of hearing all the SRT snobs knock this trim. For a daily driver, I don't want the headache and expense of an SRT.

It's your money and channel... but you asked for input. The challenger is a 16 year old vehicle - they get less exciting every year, we see them everywhere. I love my RT challenger, I love Plum Crazy (even though those embarrassing yellow shipping bumpers are still on for some reason), and this is a good price for the machine. If you did buy it, I'd be interested in seeing videos with a step by step process of building up the power on it, but honestly - we've already got videos of that stretching back to '08 model year. I'm already a subscriber - I don't know how much new traffic this car could attract. If you're looking for a redirect - would really love to see other SRT vehicles. Crossfire, Magnum, SRT-10 Truck, Viper... maybe not the SRT-4's. Maybe a Prowler, though. Something different, something we haven't seen a ton of on the roads.

My dealer said the yellow bumper thing was to indicate that it isn't just an SXT. It's a trim indicator. That all trims except the SXT have it. But I didn't like it regardless of what it was supposed to mean so I took it off mine.

Here's Mark Trostle, Dodge's head designer's input, ""This is the final word: When we did the sketch for the Charger and Challenger, it never had yellow strips on it. I wish they would take them off. You're just ruining the paint, and they say to be removed by dealer. It's molded in, it's there to ship the vehicle. To me, as a designer, it ruins the lines of the car."

I did it myself last Saturday haha. Traded in my RAM that I didn't need anymore and got a 5.7 Challenger with the Blacktop package in the killer blue. And it was priced very well. I think it was like $14k off, but some of that was a returning customer loyalty credit. Fittingly, also from the service loaner program, so it had 600 miles on it. The Blacktop Last Call badging for my R/T has the 345 badge on the side, and I was surprised by how cool that looks in black over the blue. I would love to follow an R/T build from your channel, specifically.

Dont buy it.. there are a few reasons they are going "cheap" 1. They have completely lost their "specialnes." 2. Everyone has one. 3. The get stolen to much. A huge #4 4. Content for these is a dying breed. Less and less people care to see the same thing over and over. If you feel you need something, buy something that may help the channel. Try a Track optioned DarkHorse, or a ZL1 6th gen Camaro or even an 2SS 1LE Camaro. Something.. Please, no more boring charger stuff!!!

Is this channel about racing or modding? You've already got the top-tier Challenger. You've had a 1,000HP Charger, and wasn't your Mustang a twin turbo? I recommend the Camaro ZL1 1LE and take it on track somewhere. I'm not a huge Chevy fan but the ZL1 is awesome if a bit hard to see out of. Either that or a TRX.

I love my 2022 challenger R/T 8 speed in triple nickel silver. A couple weeks ago, being completely stock other than a hellcat airbox, at a test and tune, it ran a 13.1 at 105mph. That’s pretty much on par with what the old 6.1 cars ran!

Service fleet miles can be rough with people driving these like rental cars. Pretty much no chance of legit engine break-in. Add that to the increase in 23-24 QC problems and its like begging for problems.

The in for repair/service loaner program is being implemented at MANY CDJR dealers. It's a way to get unsold new cars off their financial accounts. Dealers then can pay less on the loans due to their financial brokers. Then dealers will do the add ons and recoup their interest payment losses. Im surprised Courtesy isn't participating in the add on gotcha games!

I heard there's a superstock lower airbox at AFE for a quick, easy cold air intake upgrade! You can up the diameter on the throttle body and get spacers, too.

If you get a 5.7 RT, I highly recommend you swap the oil pump to the hellcat oil pump, the 5.7 oil pump does a horrible job at idle (low oil pressure) the hellcat oil pump will fix the issue and will likely prevent the lifters from goin bad due to no oil pressure. I think the performance driving world, especially the American V8 enthusiast crowd I'm part of, has gotten super lazy and reliant on 8-10-speed automatic transmissions, tap-screen launch modes and other do-it-for-you tech. I say go the other way and think Ronnie Sox and Herb McCandless. For me, having been lucky enough to own and drive 440-6 and Hemi powered 60/70s cars, I would love to see the infamous RacerX do a retro A-body or B-body build with a modern drive train (Scat or Hell -I will forgive an 8spd but would relish a 6pseed).No touch screens allowed! @RacerX, I root for this because even though others may have done so, you have the ability to deliver the process cleary and concisely. Get it and put a Whipple on it. More streetable than a Procharger. The Procharger excels at higher RPM where the Whipple is good NOW. Stay on 93 octane. Make it a fun car that people can work toward and enjoy. It would have more power than a ScatPack but less than a Hellcat. Just a fun car, or just get a Camaro ZL1. A Whipple charged R/T would cheaper to build than buying a ZL1 and nearly as much fun.

I got an awesome deal on my 23 Challenger R/T. MSRP was over 46k and it was marked down to 32k. My sister also bought a 23 Charger SXT awd. MSRP was 41k and it was marked down to 24k. Both were purchased in Cincinnati. There are good deals out there. However some dealers still aren’t as flexible.

If you’re going to make it into a project car . I think the RT would make some quality content for a long time. Either make it a Killer sleeper/ street car. Doesn’t have to the obvious boosted route either, it could be N/A but extremely well set up for 1/8 mile stuff. Or it could be set up to be a killer GT car/ cannonball run car. Something capable of driving NY to California at 110 mph in total style and comfort . At under 35 Gs I’m tempted to do something like this myself .

@@pushhrodd01 yeah agreed building cars is fun and rewarding but the only way for it to be worth it is to do everything yourself and fall in love with the build if you gotta pay a shop its gonna cost a stupid amount and if you dont fall in love with it well youre fucked on resale.

Would love to see what you can do with the RT as I had a plum crazy RT myself back in 14. Always wound up feeling less than the SRT guys, would've been nice to surprise one or two on the streets.

I gotta go with Camaro, i know its a great deal but a lot of people are pissed at Dodge right now, so if your motivation is for the channel, I think mixing it up a bit could get you some more reach. But whatever feels right man.. I'd still watch if you bought Prius, just my 2 cents

Just got back from a dealership and looked at a 23 Challenger Scat Wide body white with red leather. Test drove it & when I walked around the back I grabbed a piece of pealed paint from wheel well,the paint felt like sandpaper,the tires had flat spots and vibrated going down the road. The interior was faded & they wanted $47,999. So I got a quote for a Red Wide body in the showroom and they wanted $50,000 with $1300 LoJack,$3000 I. Dealer add ons which included Ceramic coating,$200 for nitrogen tires,$200 for door trim,& other BS. Out the door at $60,000 and walked. $50,000 for a car 1 year old and way overpriced to start with.

Just went over the estimate and they wanted to charge A$$go Advantage $3000 for door edge guards,nitro tires,paint sealer,etc License plate for $450,electric file $500 at real cost$245. They have to disclose that they are profiting on those services and they have to deduct from the starting price of the car. I’m going to another dealership and bringing notes to make the adjustments.

Buying a car since 2020 is a joke. The car industry is going to have to hit rock bottom/complete restructure/ new management and the economy will have to be re-booted before things return to reality. Do not buy any vehicle until interest rates drop back to 2019-20 era. Even with these so called go-deals, vehicles are still $200-300 more @ financed/leased then just a few years ago. Inflation adjustments people scream doesnt happen at warp speed as in just the 3-4 years.

Might be a good idea. Pretty soon as dealers lower all these younger people will be buying these and checking out KZbin for stuff to do to them-so it might be a good time to get ahead of everyone realizing there’s going to be another go around on modding these cars. Plus there’s more mod suppliers now. The purple is awesome in person. Especially in Florida. The way the sun hits playful colors here just makes them stick out. I’d buy a yellow corvette here in Florida but i wouldn’t in NY.

See if you can get a deal on a 392 Charger. I made them and drove them, imo they're pretty bada$$. Naturally aspirated that you can build on to make insane power. Proven durability in the 6.4 Hemi.

In the real world, meaning real streets, the 5.7 and 6.4 are pretty close. With the Challengers done I say do the RT as a value, more relatable build. It doesn't have to be a serious racer. Mix the content up a bit, and when you are ready you can always do another really competitive racing build.

How about an "old school" build? Like a Fox body Mustang or 3rd gen Camaro? Or a Mustang 2 and make a hot rod out of it? Or even some 70s full size car like an Impala/Caprice or a Chrysler Cordoba or Plymouth Fury and modify them?

I think the 5.7 Challenger would an excellent addition to your channel. It's a lot more popular have an R/T than the Scat Pak or supercharged versions. Something I've thought about since they have stopped many the Challenger is the conversion a V6 Challenger to a V8 would be very interesting since there a lot those around. Get the 5.7 Challenger!

I don't like the sound of the R/T 5.7, but you can do a lot with them and they're fun to build. You should do a manual 5.7 or a 6.4 build.
