Best Ram amp/sub video on KZbin. No LOC in my 2015 either. Fosgate r500x1d has high level but I used rca to wire tapped to both b pillars for clean install. Wires were the only ones twisted green & white, green/yellow, etc. And I tapped into pink blue wire under driver seat that comes from console 12v for remote

Just do what I did and get the Audio control LC7i and do it right. I was able to obtain full balance and fader even though I upgraded all the door speakers and 2 amps to power it all. The way this guy did his RCA’s is a hack job! J/s JBL 6x9’s in all 4 doors 400 watt Fosgate amp for highs Two Alpine Type R 12’s in a Fox Acoustics ported box under the rear seat Fosgate T10001 BD amp Audio control LC7i All in a Ram 3500 crew cab. And yes, it bows the windows and the roof when the bass hits!

This is one of the best tutorial videos I've seen in a long time. Im just concerned about the pan feature on the factory stereo not working properly after tapping into one speaker for the audio input on the amp.

i never had an issue...but if you're really concerned tap into each side for each sub to balance it out. it's just extra work for you but you absolutely can do it. just have to tap into each side behind the "B" pillar. I'm glad the tutorial helped you.

btw before anyone says anything...i'm not done with the install so that's why it's messy. This is basically mocked up...i'll clean up the install when the weather is better and i'm finished sound deadening the doors and back of the truck. :-)

in case you are using LOC you can tap in the signal from the same B pillar and no need to take off the passenger side.

Always a good rule of thumb to keep your Audio cables & Power cable on opposite sides of the car, or at least not right next to eachother. Slight chance of causing some static

Good info. I might however, point out you have the amp power wire in a coil. It's not a lot of coiling, but in theory, still could overheat and melt the insulation and cause a fire. You should cut off the extra to prevent having to coil up the extra length. Google "melted coiled wires" for a quick example.

you can see here that the RED and the WHITE both have Pos/Neg +/- so you connect your speaker wire from the B Pillar to the POSITIVE on BOTH the white/red and the NEGATIVE to BOTH the red/white negative and you're set to go! You actually only need either the RED OR THE WHITE rca to make this work as all the speakers have a full range high level signal...but I didn't feel like leaving a wire just laying there. SORRY search for the Pioneer GM-D961 RCA adapter in google and you'll find the image and it will make more sense as to what i'm referring to.

How did the system turn out? Can you play it at high volume with the rear seats down? I have 2 car seats in the back of mine so the seat will have to stay down all the time. will that cause an issue with the excursion of the subs? Thanks for this video!

On the rca plugs, which wires are pos and neg? I'm doing a amp and sub install and I'm not getting any signal to my subs, I tried the line out with no luck, now I want to go your route with connecting the rca plugs straight from the speaker signal to the amp. BTW, thanks for the video

LOOKS GOOD! I do not have an the Alpine amp like you do, so I am wondering do i need the line out converter? or can i just buy a RCA adapter with high lvl inputs? I am running 2- 10's Kicker with a boss amp. mono @ 2 ohms I have the 8.4 Unconnect and do not want to replace it. Thats part of the reason i got the truck.

chris reiter your amplifier had to accept high level inputs to work this way. If not then yes you'll need a line out converter sorry.

chris reiter if you get a LOC get the LC2i as it can you speaker high level inputs as a trigger without a 12v trigger so you could still tap in at the B pillar and put the LOC in the back next to the amplifier

It's called a ring terminal. Your ground wire needs one. There is a plastic plate you can drill a hole in right above where you came in with your power wire. Sorry I'm OCD with my installs. Been doing audio for 20 years now. Started when I was 18.

What would be best to run an amp to my factory 2017 uconnect 5.0 radio. Im at a loss and was wondering if i should splice in a LOC to the wiring harness or if they make like an adapter that plugs in my factory harness

I have a homeade fiberglass dual 12 box, in my 13 Ram quad cab. Is not ported, I asked some car audio forums and they said not to use alpine type s, what's your opinion. I have 1,000 watts rms to send to them. Right now just have some crappy Pioneer champions to get me by. My box looks like a tall net audio fiberglass box, right around 1.9 cf airspace.

so I went ahead and bought the amp and speaker wire package. you mentioned when connecting the signal to the rear door panel to contact crutch field to see which wire is which(could you explain what exactly I should be asking crutchfield) and then you were saying you take the signal for the amp from one speaker in the back. Wouldn't that only give you signal from the right side then? what if I wanted to get signal from both left and right?

Nick Hoffmann I went with the audio control LC7i and I have full balance and fader Control still. Two alpine type R 12’s with Fosgate T10001BD amp and Fox acoustics box. JBL 6x9’s in all 4 doors with Fosgate 400 watt amp. It literally bows the windows, roof and doors and is crystal clear! J/s

@@youfixitatvutv he's using a fox box from Fox Acoustics. its vented and split 1.55 CUBIC FEET PER SIDE. this is a ported box and is the same one I just installed in my 2012 Ram 2500. 2 Sundown SA 12-D4 subs, Sundown SAE 1500 amp, Sundown 1/0 AWG wiring, LC2i LOC cause its the professional thing to install so you can control bass drop off from the stock head unit. or install an LC7i or bigger if you want to add an aftermarket amp and door speakers. This hack job of wire splicing is ridiculous. Home grown still running off 1 side speaker unless his door speaker is running mono and not stereo. If your gonna do something awesome, learn how to do it right. Once a hack, always a hack!

There's a lot of amps that this won't work with if your Ram has the Infinity premium sound. Tapped into the rear speaker wires, after the amp, causes the amp to shut down the rear speaker outputs (my guess is that the impedance on some amplifier inputs is too low and the factory amp sees it as a short, but I'm not positive). Honestly, after doing it this way but tapping into the speaker wiring on both sides (and finding it won't work with the Rockville amplified subwoofer kzbin.info/www/bejne/qIjHepKDqN6Uldk ), and pulling the dash apart It's actually MUCH less work to pull the faceplate of the dash and the radio and tap into the wiring between the radio and the amp.

U say your truck didn't come with that touch screen head unit. What was the factory head unit it came with and how difficult(what all was involved) was the swapp?

I have a 08 Dodge ram 1500. I tried this method and found out that my twisted speaker wires I tapped into are both positive. ????? Not sure what to do now except go get a line out converter and run a remote wire with it. Any input would be nice. Thanks Bruce

So much wrong with this video. 1st of the the red and white RCA's aren't positive and negative. They are left and right, that's why each has it's own positive and negative. Also by taking one side speaker and connecting the positive of that speaker wire to the positive of the red and white, as well as the negative you'r only going to get audio output for that channel. For example if you only connect the left side speaker wires to the red and white you're only audio from that channel,. You wont hear any of the bass notes from the right side channel.

I did this on my 2019 ram with a LOC and I got massive engine noise you think if I wire the speaker wires to the rca directly I wouldn’t get the engine noise ones I rev the motor the bass goes crazy

Being a 2019 you most likely won't get rid of that engine noise and your subs won't sound good unless you get the PAC amp pro 4.
