Dodge Ram Rain Water Leak On Passenger Floor - Solved

Water has been dripping onto the passenger floor of my 2005 Dodge Ram 2500 for awhile and it's been frustrating trying to figure out where it's coming from. It was definitely just water - not anti-freeze - so I knew it wasn't the heater core. I ruled out the A/C compressor condensation drain backing up into the cabin and I finally tracked down the problem.

Thanks a million Gary, like you I saw all the videos of the AC drain hose but mine was draining fine. Worried it might be the windshield, till I saw your video. Was able to access the plastic support without removing entire cowl, by loosening passenger side of cowl only. Resealed the mount , just had torrential downpour here in Fl., dry as a bone , thanks again !!

I'm sorry - I no longer own this truck. I would think if you cleaned that windshield locating block well and sealed 100% all the way around it (even without removing it), it would take care of the problem. Try pulling up that metal foil above the air intake and make sure there are no holes that may be funneling water towards the intake. That's a direct path through the firewall into the cab. Good luck

That block has a peg on the back that is inserted into a hole just below the bottom edge of the windshield. You'll have to pry the block off, trying not to break the peg off (the block is used to position the windshield on installation)

I have had the same problem for several years. I was told there is a drain somewhere under the truck that gets clogged by leaves and debris, but I could never find it. I have had to cover the cab of my truck with a tarp whenever it rains. In addition, I obviously cannot use my truck when it's raining. The next chance I get, I'm going to try this and see if it also solves my problem.

I know exactly what you mean. I literally just finished installing an external voltage regulator. All my dash lights fried - I discovered my alternator was cranking out 16 volts. The voltage regulator is built into the ECM in these trucks which means when it goes haywire, you can have the computer replaced for 2000 bux or bypass it yourself with a $70 external regulator and electrical field replacement module (to fool the computer into thinking it's still controlling things). 😉 It's always something

I suspected my 2018 ram leaks for the same reason the 2010 Chrysler van did. Air blows straight into drain hose when driving because the hose points straight forward. On the van I fixed a hose on drain to face the ground and cut the end at an angle so airflow outside would pull a slight suction on it. The van never leaked again. Thats an easier fix than whats in this video. I will investigate on my truck

With vehicle still under warranty will dealer fix this for free or will it cost me $$$?
@richardtack7590
@richardtack7590 3 жыл бұрын
I will reply to my own question; No this would not be a warranty job. I decided to attempt to fix the leakage (including soaked cabin filter) myself on my 2019 Ram 2500 Bighorn. A small gear puller made removing wiper blade assemblies easy, I don't know how you'd get them off otherwise. 5 or 6 plastic plugs and 2 other fasteners and the cowling comes right off. The problem was the 3 drain holes on the left side and 3 on the right side under the cowling. All 6 holes were plugged with leaves, pollen, pine needles, etc. With holes plugged water level in the drain trough rises and overflows into the fresh air intake. A quick vacuum, blow with air, then flush with water and the problem was corrected. Took me 3 hours but I'm slow. A dealer could do it in a half hour and charge 2 hours labor, plus $40 for a new cabin air filter. I did not have an issue with the blocks that support the windshield nor did I have to pull up the silver foil like in the video. Good luck.

mine is leaking on the drivers side 2016 3500 single cab and I just had the windshield replaced I figure that it's close to this same issue, wish I had a garage to take it all apart. It is totally annoying had the rear window leaking on the passenger side had to fill that corner with calk and glue the rubber on the roof panel replaced all the marker lights calked all the screws bought adhesive pads for under each light to ensure that wasn't' the issue. To be honest this sux and every manufacture has some B.S. issue. would love to buy a vehicle and not have to fix such stupid design issues.
