The $100 million renovated Dodger Stadium appears to be complete. Initially started back in Nov. 2019, the stadium is now being utilized for Spring Training 2.0. Dodger players are now working out in the stadium and playing in intersquad games preparing for a shortened 2020 season. Dodger Stadium was scheduled to host this years All-Star game but that has been pushed back to 2022. Opening day is now July 23rd against the SF Giants.
The renovations:
Creation of Centerfield Plaza: The new Centerfield Plaza will create a stadium "front door" with almost two acres of unique food offerings, entertainment and kids areas, retail locations, sponsor activations, more social and standing room areas and greater access for those with special needs. A new kids play area will be constructed just beyond the wall in straight-away centerfield, and fans will be able to enjoy the game from above of a newly-constructed batters eye wall. The new Centerfield Plaza will pay homage to Dodger history with statues and a permanent home for the "Legends of Dodger Baseball" plaques..
Pavilion Renovations: Renovations to the Left and Right Field Pavilions will include new restrooms, enclosed bars with views into the bullpen, the creation of standing room areas at the top of each pavilion, enhanced ADA seating and "home run seats" just beyond the outfield wall.
Sandy Koufax Statue: The Dodgers will honor Hall of Fame left-handed pitcher Sandy Koufax with a statue, the second at Dodger Stadium following the dedication of the Jackie Robinson statue in 2017. Both statues will reside in the Centerfield Plaza, as the Robinson statue will be re-located from the Left Field Reserve.
New Elevators and Bridges: Elevators are currently under construction in the Right and Left Field Plazas to help move fans easily to and from this new Centerfield Plaza. Additionally, bridges will be constructed to connect the new pavilion standing room decks to the rest of the stadium for a 360-degree connection around the park's perimeter. These new elevators and bridges will also provide easier access to the Dodger Stadium Express stop in Lot G through the Centerfield Plaza.
New Sound System: A new sound system will replace the current speaker tower and provide an enhanced audio experience to fans on all levels of the ballpark with more directed sound inside the stadium.

Okay, so they removed the bleachers in the middle of the pavilions, but they didn't bother to remove the ones in center field for the batters eye? Why did they just paint them black? Like... is it really that hard to remove benches??? I've always had that question since I was a kid. Why have tarps there; why paint them black; why not just remove them??? If you're not going to let people sit there anyways...

The idea was to keep the integrity of the stadium but add modern touches, i believe. I haven’t been to all MLB stadiums, but i’ve been to quite a few, and dodger stadium holds up very well compared to others and is over 60 years old

They did a half ass job imo. Pavilion stairs are still crumbling. They didn’t even patch them up lol. The batters eye was supposed to have the dodgers logo above it, and they painted seats black because the batters eye is too small. They should have just removed those seats instead of having that cheap look.

This renovation in hindsight seems to have been for the players, coaches and training staff. There is now a much larger locker room, larger rooms for training and physical therapy, a quiet room, and a seperate interview room. Instead of the catered meals they had before the new clubhouse will have a seperate kitchen with a chef and a nutritionist on hand. The batting cages and workout area are much larger as well. The other work on the stadium all just appears to be cosmetic.

Learned during a stadium tour I took a couple years ago that the reason the seats are all different colors and not just one solid color like most stadiums is that they were trying to replicate "Sunny Beach Cali". The darker yellowish seats represent the Sun. Lighter yellow represent Sand. And the shades of blue represent the Sky & Ocean. I know it sounds tacky, but that's the story the tour guide gave us about those tacky looking seat colors lol

Used to be a mcm classic . Slowly turning into City Walk . "Blue heaven" So Cheesy and cringe. All that work for an area that's only 20 percent of the ballpark that people walk by to get the main stadium. Lol. The funniest thing is, it's technically outside of tht ballpark! Lol I could see it if it was level with the top of the pavilions like other stadiums.

The area is accesible for the entire stadium and you can now walk the entire stadium 360 degrees which before you couldnt..As a lifelong dodger fan i was hoping it wouldnt be a cheesey over hyped disney looking nonsense but i have to admit it looks pretty good. Walking up to it from the parking lot seeing "welcome to dodger stadium" and being able to enter the stadium from one main entry way instead of having to walk around to access long escalators up to your section or down to your section. AIm sure at night with the lighting and summer sky in the background it will make for some amazing sights. The only problem now is that with covid 19 none of it will be able to be expierienced by the fans. Well not anytime soon anyhow. Regardless i appreciate dodger ownership going out and renovating such a classic ballpark and bringing it up to modern day standards and opening new sights and ways to view the dodgers play at the ballpark we all love. No need to build a new stadium if youve already got a classic ground.
