My instructor told me the same thing about the vultures diving if you're on a collision course with them, and it's apparently true of all birds of prey. He told me the ones to really avoid are seagulls because they are completely unpredictable and not too bright. He didn't have a very high regard for them (winged rats, as he called them). 😉

Haha! That’s exactly what we call them too, thankfully we don’t see many here!

Hey Noel, It's similar here in outback Oz. The Wedgetail eagles are beautiful to see. They fly high (riding on thermals) because their eyesight is extraordinary. They can spot a critter (mouse etc.) from miles away. Being high gives them more chances to spot prey.

New subscriber to your channel. Really enjoying the cockpit banter and your southern drawl. Soon enough you’ll be starting your videos off by saying Howdy y’all. You need to get up to Colorado and check out the mountains. Very beautiful. I fly a Cherokee 140/180 out of KBJC and have a few videos on our KZbin channel. Looking forward to seeing more of your content.

Noel. Here is a few suggestions for places to fly to in Texas. These are places I have visited with friends. Fredericksburg.. the airport has an American Diner beside the apron and also has a quaint hotel as well. Fredericksburg itself is a great tourist town worth a visit. Port Arkansas. Airport is a part of a public carpark. Take the local bus in to the port via a tour of the island Llano. Interesting town by the river with a great BBQ at Coopers.

@@janellek21 Yeah HP sauce is pretty good. I do like a Greggs sausage cob with HP sauce. I'm told A1 steak sauce is about the closest thing to it in the US but I've never tried it. Root beer is where it's at for me. I used to buy cases of A&W from an import place in Ashton under Lyne but it seems almost impossible to get hold of now. Supposedly the government banned one of its ingredients
