This song is the Blank Space of Build A Problem - the lyrics are likely very true to Dodie’s experiences. The attitude she puts on in this lyric video, the sassy, sexy confidence, makes me think of how Taylor Swift wrote Blank Space to be an over-exaggeration of the stereotypes people think she fits into, so maybe; this is Dodie fully owning the fact that her partners may not understand her due to childhood trauma and being made to be a “special girl time and time again,” and trying to make fun of it, even though underneath it’s painful? I don’t know - this is my interpretation, and I could very well be wrong, so take this with a grain of salt.
@unionunicorn67763 жыл бұрын
I honestly can’t tell you how relatable this is to me. From the first line of the song, to the red heart glasses, to the long hair in pigtails, to the star stickers on the face, to the confetti, to the sprinkles cake... (even treating going through the car wash like a special event lol) these are ALL things I’ve done before/do on a regular basis. It’s like they had a camera on my life... 👀
