Jeff thanks for your informative and entertaining video. We have a 2022 RAV 4 Prime model SE. 24,000 miles on the odometer. We have a 240 Volt charger at home and charging times run about 4.5 hours on a depleted battery to full. Range varies as summer 45-50+ miles on all electric. MPG's on a depleted battery and running just like a RAV 4 Hybrid has been 45+ mpg depending on weather here in Northwestern Oregon. This Summer's hybrid MPG's has been 50.3 MPG for the last 1,800 miles calculated by miles driven and gal's pumped, of course this is with a depleted battery in City and rural highways mainly Highway 101 were max speed limit is 55 MPH. The Kia looks nice but the Prime has no engine belts or other belts to change and cost less to maintain than the Kia. My vote is for the RAV 4 Prime and my wife and I voted with cash back when we purchase ours at MSRP (not a penny more) in March 2022. The then FED tax credit of $ 7,500 and Oregon $2,500 rebate ($10,000 total) sure helped as well to bring the drive away price less than a comparably equipped RAV 4 Hybrid.

Title say 24 but you said 23, which one. Also, said wireless Apple CarPlay and android but the PHEV specs say wired only. Was this an option or a 2024 change?

I can't find any info on the 2024 Sportage Hybrid on the Kia website -- only the 2023 model. Will there be a 2024 Hybrid (as opposed to plug-in hybrid) model? The 2024 has wireless Apple Carplay/Android Auto which I am excited for. Edit: this is false. 2024 does not have wireless car play/android auto. The video is wrong.

The hybrid hasn’t begun production yet so they haven’t released that. I think someone said it starts near the end of this year

RAV 4 leads with 42miles on battery and 2.5L ICE but to upgrade dasboard infotech and controls to meet futuristic generation lifestyle. For Sportage, running air-condition, radiator cooling fan, battery charging, and half/full passengers simultaneously on 1.6L ICE appears over-kill even with turbocharge. Of course, futuristic generation will go for Sportage. On my 1.6L ICE (petrol only) Accent, I can feel the radiator fan kicking on/off impact on the 1.6L ICE. KIA may consider non-turbocharged 2.0 or 2.5L 4cylinders ICE for fair competition. 2.5L ICE on my SantaFe doing great.

Kia definitely surprised me with the look and features, however, I would place my money on Rav4 Prime. Prime is just such a beast.

Not sure why Kia has released the 24 Sportage gas, but not the 24 HEV or PHEV. This title says 24, but sticker shows 23. I'm really interested in a 24 HEV but no info. Overall the Sportage has more pluses than the RAV4, however if you were planning to keep for 200K miles the Toyota might be the safer choice

KiA should use a bit bigger battery than Toyota RAV4 has , then KiA could be a game changer . I love Mercedes PHEV 30kWh battery is enough for 65miles electric Range !!

My daughter has a 23 hybrid Kia Sportage , I have a 23 Hybrid Ltd. Rav 4 Hers is nuch nicer interior and exterior styling but Ill bet money my Toyota will last a lot longer and less to maintain.

Most people saying the RAV4 will last longer will probably never keeo it long enough to find out. While I know Toyota is a very good, reliable brand, I find it odd the brand doesn't back it up with a warranty with 10 years of coverage. I've owned my 2011 since November of 2010 , it currently has 190k miles... No major repairs. New battery, new brakes, new tires, fixed a leak in the AC, new alternator, new sensor that sends signal to the Tachometer... Mostly basic maintenance.

Only problem with Kia is it has no heat pump. Gas engine kicks to heat earlier than rav 4

The Kia has PCT electric heaters which are way better than heat pumps, imo. But Kia still does kick the engine in earlier, not really because of the heaters, but because the battery's power output is a lot lower.

There are a few things I like about the sportage (like having an actual button to unlock the door instead of having it be totally automatic, more effective headroom, more 2nd row legroom, etc) but overall the Rav4 prime IS a better car. Even on price, although the R4P costs more upfront, the expected 5-year depreciation in dollars terms is actually lower -- but I think with the sportage the kia may surprise.

No its not, I have a rav4 and wished I bought a kia, the only reason i got rav4 was because of the name, and supposed reliability and because it does'nt depreciate as fast as kia and hyundai, but feature wise its totally lacking

All things considered......... it's a landslide for the Rav4 Prime. Turbo engine & no spare tire are a deal breaker for me. Kia also doesn't have the greatest reputation for reliability. It's just a shame Toyota doesn't build more Primes..... they could sell 10 times more of them.

Kia garbage cars, will never beat Toyota. I have a 2020 kia sportage, with only 57 ,000 already burning engine oil. And my 2016 toyota rav4 doesn't burn any engine oil. DO NOT BUY HEADACHES. KIA CARS HAVE LUXURY BUT NOT QUALITY.
