don't be too hard on yourself! you hit your goal be positive! it's easy to get caught up in what if I had done something differently only thing that you can do is use that for future situations

Thanks velozwifter 🙂 I’m going to start to set some goals that isn’t just ‘stick with the front group’ I think on those type of races I can do that - now I need to push on now 👍🏻

Some days we just don’t have the mental fortitude to perform our best. The brain is like a muscle too. It can push the body past where you would think. This is a good reminder for me as well. I got dropped in this one because of a mental lapse. Just didn’t push when I cold have. Excellent reflection on your race.

Thanks Roy, completely agree with everything you say, the brain is so important to the performance and it needs to stay strong the whole race, at least the legs sometimes get a rest! We’ve just got to practice to push through the pain 👍🏻

Good race :) my main target during the race is same like yours - stay with the front group! 😀

Well done mate. A tough course unless you’re only of the really punchy guys. That being said interesting to note the average power between you and John didn’t look al that different. Definitely over 50% of cycling and especially racing is mental - I have teammates who don’t believe they can win, so they don’t. But they have the numbers to. Definitely think you should challenge yourself more though. Maybe do a segment smash and grab knowing you’ll get dropped regardless

Thanks mate 👍🏻 agree, if I think I’ll not be able to win / get any FAL points I won’t because I’ve already prepared myself to fail. Definitely need to change this going forward and a good starting point as you suggested is the odd FTS/FAL!

Ooo, this is exciting. I think if I’d been in charge of hitting your powerups you’d have scored quite a few sprint points. Hit them all way too early, worried about losing touch, assumedly. And as fatigue set in, it got worse, as decision-making tends to. I think some above mentioned it, but by having a target segment is often the way to get started. If you’d said “lap 2 lots of people will be saving themselves a bit for the finish, so I’m going to have the aero and I’m gonna give it everything without the powerup on the lower bit, then hit it on the middle section and give it 100%” you may well have got a top 3 there. I didn’t sprint at all in my first two seasons of ZRL, now I’m one of the top points scorers in the division, after I had a weird quirk of luck and picked up some points and it made me believe. Anyway, I love your vids and think you’ve identified the way forward! Looking forward to seeing it happen. FWIW someone told me to just race Innsbruckring as much as possible. Rest, sprint, rest sprint, sprint. Just like most of ZRL.
@notpogi Жыл бұрын
Thanks Zwifty, excellent points made, agree re the power ups, this is something I need to get to grips with and maybe have a strategy before the race depending on what I get rather than making a spur of the moment decision when I’m already on the edge! You’ve been absolutely smashing it recently which is brilliant, will have to race Innsbruck a little more as suggested because ZRL seems to be very much about the sprint and recovery 👍🏻

@@notpogi cheers! Quite a few courses which suit my power profile of late. Not coincidentally, the profile of someone who’s raced up the legsnapper 80 times!

That's was a great race mate, you gotta be proud of your effort! Looking at the difficulties you had during the first climbs, it's nothing to be sad about that the last one didn't go as your mind planned to. Confidence comes with being in the front of the group when the climb flattens out at the top, knowing you are strong enough to do it and that you got some energy left in the tank to go even harder. The struggle was real this time, and that's okay. Keep improving, especially on your 1-2 minute power. That's where 90% of the Zwift races are won or lost. The other 10% include DRS of course 🤣 Can I trick you into riding the DRS Trial races next two Tuesdays? We're testing out a new way of race categorization and we would love to get your feedback about it 🙏🏻

Thanks very much 🙂 really appreciate the feedback! Agree with your point regarding confidence and being in the front of the group when it flattened out at the top - I just need to believe a little more!! I’ve just signed up 🙂 happy to give a bit of feedback, I’m sure it’ll be just as good if not even better than the last one 👍🏻👍🏻

It was a good attack that, just so difficult to break the group with the little incline straight after the climb.
