I raced B1 last year and it's a joke, the top 10-15 people there should be A, I'm racing A2 this year and in my race the highest 20m power was 4.6w/kg, I find B1 is filled with A sandbaggers and A2 is where people go when they actually want to get better. It's so strange to me when people just stay in B so they can keep winning, no one cares if you win a B race, it's B.
@notpogiКүн бұрын
There were some very strong riders in this race! Interesting what you say about the A2 group and 4.6 wkg. I think there’s enough people that race ZRL to split the categories even further, hopefully when the ZRS is used it’ll promote those people that do sandbag 👍🏻
@andrewdechamp8678Күн бұрын
@@notpogi Yes and there's TONS of overlap when dealing with the limits of the categories. Last year my FTP was around 4.1 and I could get top 10 in any B1 race, right now I'm around 3.9-4.0 and finished 35/56 in A2. I was initially expecting to get dropped hard coming into A for the first time but now I see so there's tons of As that are only 4.0-4.2 that could easily still race in B1 and do great, but choose to join A for the challenge. And then vice versa are the pro B racers who just want to win the runners up category for some reason.

Good job man. I'm also doing my first ZRL season. Been cat B for a while just always did the TTT with my team. It was a nuts race for sure and you made it further than I did with the lead pack. I mistakenly sat up after the first climb patting myself on the back that I made it up only to get dropped cause I didn't realize the sprint was there :D. Still finished 25th so not too bad. As to why they haven't switched to the new zrs my suspicion is it's too volatile for a long running series like that. People aren't going to change categories based on power very quickly unless they were sandbagging, but zrs is based on race performance. Win a few races and now your bumped from that league. Just my theory though.
@notpogiКүн бұрын
Hi Craig, thanks very much mate 👍🏻 That’s cool, good to get involved in ZRL - I bet the TTT was very tough, it’s sitting in 2nd/3rd wheel that I find really hurts, followed by doing a pull! Good work on making it up the climb, absolute gutter to get dropped there! Sounds like you’ve got a decent power range so you’ll be fine for the scratch race mate! Yeah some good points re the ZRS, in hindsight it’d be best if the scoring had a little more time to sort itself out so not a bad thing 👍🏻
@craigsmith5134Күн бұрын
@@notpogi wtrl ttt is brutal and you got it right. 2nd 3rd wheel is a killer. I've been slowly making my way up b cat. Got promoted from c probably mid January early February and now sitting at 3.8w/kg so kinda in the middle. Only more room to grow 😉

Yes agree, it’s just strange they didn’t decide use it. I think the more racing that is done via ZRS the more people will move into the correct categories, which is why I don’t understand why they wouldn’t have wanted to use it on the most popular race series if only for that purpose 👍🏻

Nice race and absolutely love this channel btw. You look comfortable throughout the whole race, so I think it's 100% normal you try here and there to see how your competitors are doing. My opinion is that you launched too many attacks to try instead of launching 1 where you give it your max for 2-3min and also use the feather power-up when you are doing this attack. In that way I think you would make the other riders suffer quite a bit more and if you make a gap of 10sec or can get away with 1-2 others, the riders in the bunch might be less willing to close the gap.

Would love to save money and make one of these but I just can't get over the space required. I'd have to block off half the space in the room I'd have it in. Just that alone might mean I'd rather just spend the extra cash and buy something like the kickr move since I'm in the market for a new smart trainer anyway. Plus they're on sale for the same price as a new kickr and not a ridiculous amount more than a used kickr anyway. Great video though.

I see the length of the rail was 1200mm. Do you know the diameter of the round rail you used? I see them on ebay and amazon as SBR12, SBR16, SBR20, SBR25, where the number is the diameter in mm. Also, just curious how it was holding up. I'm thinking of building one and liked your design.

Hi, it was the SBR20 that I purchased, the 1200mm was definitely the best length imo but I think you could also get away with 1000mm.
