The jews recognized the heaven(s) and the earth because that is what they saw. And no, that does not mean that they were talking about the entirety of physical reality, all matter, all energy, all space and time. That's how Dr. Ross likes to extrapolate the truth. In fact, in Hebrew, there are words for matter (עִניָן), energy (מֶרֶץ), space (חָלָל), and time (פַּעַם). If they had wanted to talk about that, if they had seen a connection between the heaven(s) and the earth and matter, energy, space and time, they could have talked about it. But they didn't because they didn't know. That's the reason why these words are not in Genesis.

You are not correct as to the origin of the universe. Biblical Hebrew has a smaller vocabulary than English. In biblical Hebrew, there is no word for universe. Instead, the Hebrew phrase that is translated “the heavens and the earth” is used to refer to the universe-the entirety of physical reality. The phrase is used thirteen times in the Old Testament, always referring to all matter, energy, space, and time in the universe. We now know that event was 13.787 ±0.020 billion years. This has been checked, proven a nd measured with many tools and they all agree. It is not just space that came to be 13.787 billion years ago, but time also. The universe is finite and expanding. Just as the Bible stated thousands of years ago. To deny the existence of a Creator is an error. Space-time Theorems prove extra dimensions. @@djsarg7451 I'm not rejecting anything I asked what was there before the rapid expansion. I believe the universe has always existed and the big bang as you call it was just the universe changing. Ecclesiates 1:5 The sun rises, and the sun goes down, and hastens to the place where it rises. it is the hastens to the place where it rises that gives it away. The sun is the one moving not the earth. along with Psalms 104:5 He set the earth on its foundations; it can never be moved.

If science points to a transcendent Creator, science should agree. If Science points to an error in Bible teaching, then maybe the Bible interpretation is wrong. If science points to a fine-tuned universe, then there is a Causal Agent beyond space and time that created our universe of matter, energy, space, and time.
