You dont have to imagine its in its name Auto Vault it probably constantly checks if you are near a vaultable surface, Same with the FPS counter it constantly draws, updates the counter which requires a bit more processing power

They have it coded to where it does multiple checks a second to see if you are near a vault-able surface. They should just remove the auto function and force people to use the hotkey to avoid any blowback, I can't really think of any other way to code something like that, other than reducing the number of checks that the game does

Tarkov is a game with a lot of technical debt. Imagine being hired and now you have to learn and understand a code base that’s been developed on for nearly 7 years now that was maintained by like a couple of dudes at the start. I hardly imagine there’s much good documentation of their core systems.

I think with the metabolism thing at 5:50 , the reason you lost XP for eating one thing but ended up gaining XP when eating multiple things was because of the XP diminishing returns. Eating 1 item gives you the +30%, which gets reverted when you reset. But eating multiple things would mean you are gaining at the max diminishing returns so when you reset it to 100% you actually gain more. Math example: Say 100 water gives you 1XP In raid, you start with 130% gain. so that water would give 1.3XP But after drinking like 5 waters in a row, you would be getting less and less something like 130%, 100%, 70%, 40% 10% XP instead. so 1.3, 1, .7, .4 and .1xp.(totalling 3.5xp) But when you reset, it resets each water XP to the default, being 1xp (totalling 5xp), so gaining XP when you reset.

AutoVault seems to have a way bigger impact in Offline than in Online Raids, Online is 1/3FPS. If you do a lot of tests/benchmarks in Offline mode than this setting can change results big time though.

Ambient audio: Is is true that lowering master volume reduces the volume of the ambient more than any other stuff? Some people play at like 80% master volume and just make the game louder in the mixer and apparently they don't hear ambient as loud otherwise.

The game is probably running checks every frame to decide how it needs to vault while moving. Normally that sort of logic would only run when moving, but it seems like it's happening every frame regardless. These checks probably require some hefty physics queries, so I can see it's reasonable that it's a bit slow. It sounds like this is a bigger issue in offline raids, so it might be a bug specific to offline mode!

pretty sure the fragments despawn pretty quickly these days. I haven't experienced someone taking damage at significant distance from a nade in a long long time. Used to be different though. The F1 in particular used to be extremely famous for head-eyesing the person who threw it if they looked towards the explosion. Was equally hillarious as frustrating. Also explains why they (presumably) reduced the fragment damage range.

unless they changed it or rather fixed it grenade shrapnel cant even damage you. The only thing killing you with grenades is the fixed blast wave kill zone thing. I remember someone testing this with like 10 ppl standing around 4 meters from repeated grenades and no one ever taking a single hit ever.

Can you break down the issues with assault scopes? Primarily them having more recoil when swapping to a top mounted red dot. Example, the bravo 4x prism, with a burris red dot and also the HHS1 simply having more visual recoil than standard holographics.

I think FPS measurement will be harder to detect than doing such a simple test, and mind you I speak in completely hypothetical terms here but I'm really surprised FPS counter didn't hit the performance because measuring performance of games, even something as basic as FPS usually impacts it negatively. Imo there are one of these three things at play: 1. At some point (or maybe always) they made that the FPS measure code is always running, only the visibility of the UI is getting toggled on or off. I'm probably reaching but there's a parameter in the Unity called Visible and even if it's off scripts are still working in the background, that's just a one way of how they could overlook this. 2. Schrödinger's cat situation - situation changes when you measure it. Maybe no matter if it's 3rd party or not, maybe Unity is using the same hooks as Afterburner does. I have absolutely no idea if that could be the case but that's just another thing that is a possibility. Obviously feelings are not reliable when it comes to testing, but sitting in one place passively and watching the number does not seem like enough of a test in this case if you ask me, maybe you experience worse dips when losing frames or longer spikes etc. 3. It actually doesn't affect the performance, at least not noticeably. Not hating on the tests of course, love you and your work and I always find you very precise and honest, just wanted to point out that the FPS thing might not be as easy to measure as it seems.

Do your testing in online raids. Offline raids, all of the server-side code runs client-side. Even if you turn off AI spawning altogether, you're still drawing more than you would in normal gameplay.

1 healing in stash after raid to level skills like with metabolism 2 you dont get insurance back when you throw stuff in the water 3 package loss symbol at the start of a raid is an indicator as to whether the boss in on the map or not 4 lowering the master volume to 60% dampens ambient sound but footsteps stay the same/are better audible

For the FPS counter thing, you are running in to the Observer/Probe effect. Just the act of measuring something will affect the results, and it should not matter if you use the FPS counter from Afterburner or in game. Only way to truly test it, would be use actually external tools like a camera to record and count frames.

No. Helmets cover the head areas they say despite the visible holes or gaps in the coverage. So if it says head,eyes, the only way to get through is high pen.

No you cannot. If the item says “eyes” as an armor area then it covers the eyes. For example, the shattered mask covers the eyes even tho it has eye holes. Because I’m the armor area it says “eyes”. If you bought s face shield like the Wendy and it did not say “eyes” in the armor area. Then you will get head,eyes. Make sure to inspect your armor and see where the areas are covered.

@@MuzluPattes16 Armor coverage has always worked this way, the new thing about 0.14 is that you have new coverage areas covered by the plates only. An easy way to think about it is that armor doesnt cover what you see but the hitbox listed in the "armor area" menu

Myth: Playing with high ping gives you an advantage in pvp. I play NA servers. Late at night I died to a russian streamer on labs that had red ping in the 160-200 range. I showed my friend the clip and he was adamant that people play on different servers to get high ping because it gives them an edge in fights. My thought process is that high ping would make it so you die without seeing/hearing what happened because your game is lagging behind relative to other players with low ping. I'm not sure how this myth could be tested but some insight into this would be greatly appreciated!

I don't know about tarkov because of inertia etc, but i remember a lot of Rainbow six siege pros complaining about ping abusing by people playing from SA to NA servers for example. Now siege is a fast paced game, so imagine someone swings at you or fast peeking with 150+ ping

@@chrisgos My friend is also into R6 and CS and he said the same thing. I thought low ping meant faster server response which equals faster reaction time to what’s on screen. High ping would then translate to a delay in server connection and being unable to properly react. Someone with high ping should be getting shot without ever seeing someone peak a corner, but maybe my understanding of ping is completely messed up lol

Nvidia Reflex On or Off on different maps / fps. I swear, I get a much smoother experience with reflex off at high fps (which lowers my fps from 163 to 144 because of course it does), but at low fps (like streets) it feels smoother to have it on.

@@abdou.the.heretic No other games messes with fps when touching reflex (unless you use +boost which I don’t recommend), Tarkov is the only one. My monitor can reach 165, but tarkov locks it at 144 for everyone when reflex is off. Reflex is specifically supposed to reduce latency when you’re gpu bound, but that shouldn’t make high framerate somehow feel worse.

Seems pretty straight forward to me. The autovaulter is probably checking every single frame via some expensive function, whereas hotkey only calls it when pushed. The real question is do you get a framedrop if you hold the hotkey. @@Annathroy

the myth or theory id like debunked is one regarding items spawn less if they are required for a quest, for example if I need CPU Fans for farming part 4, I will now have a lower chance of finding those in fresh cabinets as opposed to a friend who has either not started or completed said item quest. would love to see if there is something to this!

Loot is generated at the start of the raid and is the same for everyone. The little loading you see while looting is just an animation to kill time for realism / added danger. Cheaters can see all the loot immediately upon entering raids
