On trips, not necessarily daily driving absolutely should preflight your car. Every time I fill up with gas, for normal use, check the oil, while its filling.

My husband pre-flighted our family. Made sure 4:16 cars were running. Kids were told to be good and not destructive. Dogs were prepared with good pats. Wife kissed and hugged. Then carefully dressed in handsome uniform, off he went.

I learned to fly cause I like it. My dad was Marine trained. He liked infantry better. His brother my uncle fly from nyc to Paris a couple times a week (no ideas what 1950-60 rules were). My effect Aside from flying, was to be exact about everything - which does allow me to make sure everyone understands everyone else, checklists for any given situation (you build a nuclear reactor you want it very clear) the stories you get to tell, and the opportunity to be kind to others. Sometimes I easy feat. And in the end knowing a lot about a lot was great.

Excellent podcast Dan. It’s great to have the three of you together just talking about life. I definitely have pilot things transfer into my daily life. Not as much on the road, mostly because I have been a truck driver for 25 years, and pre and post trip vehicle inspections. I have caught myself using aviation terminology in a lot of my daily life. I like Bryan, tend to stop what I am doing to watch aircraft that are flying over. 😂 Most people just laugh at me for it. I hope you all have a wonderful holiday season, and an amazing 2025. Keep up the excellent work. Safe skies my friends 🇺🇸🛩️

I have heard someone refer to the driving part of their kid's driver license exam as a checkride! 😂

When your spouse mentions some home maintenance that needs to be done, have you ever responded “well you need to placard that inop till I get to it”.

I have implemented check lists into many tasks at my job (not flying related at all)

@@TakingOff WOW, I'd be sweating at 75 F. I'd be wearing shorts and a T-shirt.

Ive noticed this with other hobbies that suggest wealth and status, 7:25. But in reality it shows that youre just pretentious and egotistical. If no one else in the room is a pilot its usually inappropriate and unrelatable to mention it.

This pod has gotten worse over time. Vapid and irrelevant.
