They just want you to be the same as they are. There are people out there that don't like it when others like or love a game. They want everyone to be haters of the game. It even has happened other other games in the Diablo Franchise and outside of the franchise. With D3 it has at times seemed that sense D3 wasn't a prettier clone of D2 there would be those that hated it and hated you if you like or love D3. When some people think that not having unrestricted trading in D4 will kill it they are the ones that will most likely be the ones that are wanting it so they can bot for the best items in the game to sell for real money. I am sure that there won't be too many third party websites that will set up Dollar General type of websites that will profit off of what is tradeable in D4.

Character bound items WILL force players to restart a new champion as oppose to respec. You can't trade your gear for equivalent gear to try out new builds and experiment.. You'll have to grind for each character individually. Also can't transfer that gear... Enigma or even CoH is universal on characters... I could trade an occy for titans or even tstrokes... If I have CTA, Griff, Mara, Enigma, that's 3 builds I could try out seamlessly. Point being, one GG pair of casting or ias gloves should be transferable between all my characters and not locked onto a specific character. Also if I have gg casting gloves and decide I want to play an attack damage toon, I should be able to trade them out for similar quality ias gloves. I don't want to spend 80 hours on each character class to access end game content to experiment with different builds. Just feels like a very WoW approach.. Grind specific instances to get specific gear sets.. I get no dopamine from that, nothing accomplished...

whats funny about that human bot thing is that my most recent job was to hand stuff envelopes, seal, and package them for shipping. I'd average around 1500-2000 per day. The same thing, over and over and over again. Lots of people are basically doing the human bot thing but every day of their lives.

I do think most youtubers are either paid, or maybe a more subtle thing like given new games and such for free, and that kind of implies giving good coverage even if not explicitly told to them. There are a lot of ways to push good reviews short of paying them directly. Not saying you do, but some definitely do.

Thanks for taking my question. I appreciate the answer. To me class specific loot is a larger problem. I'm going to buy ans play the game regardless of the trading system. Class specific loot in my opinion impedes replay potential. One of the aspects of Diablo that hooked me is playing say a Druid and finding a GG Necromancer item and instantly knowing what build and character you'll play next. I'm not stoked about no single player either. Happy New Year.

Completely agree. Sometimes it gets a little annoying playing a druid, for example, and getting items for other classes; but most of the time it is thanks to that bunch of different items I got that help me decide what class to play next 'coz i already had awesome items for it.

Trading for me isn’t a necessity to enjoy a game generally, but one of the things that makes an ARPG like Diablo have longevity is the trade economy. Grinding away on solo self found online or in group play and getting that dopamine hit from a gg drop on an open trade game means that one gg item allows you to potentially get any other specific gg item you need for your character. It allows for all drops to mean something, even if it’s not for the play-style you want to play at that time. Without that trade, and without the randomness of the drop (class based loot or not), there isn’t much that keeps the end game grind interesting.

I also hope that it doesn’t completely murder all D2R content to a point that Blizzard chalks it up as dead, the occasional banter between all of the D2R streamers is entertaining and the least toxic I’ve come across which is refreshing.

You aren't compensated from a monetary standpoint, but you get access to a dev discord where you can pitch ideas and get access to free games and other stuff like that as long as you aren't overly antagonistic toward blizzard/their games. I know a Total War content creator and that is how Creative Assembly works. I doubt Activision is much different.

Worst thing about D4 for me is itemization and the trading. I think that's the biggest reason why people still play D2 after all these years. D3's items I can't even remember, atleast not anything from Reaper of Souls. Funny/sad how the game actually got worse over time instead of better. D3 was best a few months after launch imo.

Only items I remember from diablo 3 is the occy ring (was a glitch in diablo 2 battlenet as Mephistos loot pool would drop merged items but was a rare occurrence) and hellfire ring because they’re from diablo 2

In my opinion, all they need to do is adding more acts to d2r, new classes, unique/set items, new runewords and new skills that are available at level 80-90-95 etc. to give a real reason to people to reach high levels..it’s very unrewardy to exp hours to get only +1 skill and 5 stat points..

If I am ever going to play this game, I need to know how the map feel is. I hate maps and worlds that become either just guided or so complicated that everything becomes unfamiliar. Tried diablo immortal a little. Just got enjoyed with the guided path and no room for exploring, so I stopped playing it early on.

Taking the financial incentives out of the equation, can you think of a natural progression for a 'regular' player to stay interested? I'm sitting with three fully decked-out lvl 94s (non-ladder) and it's becoming a bit of a chore to continue farming for what are essentially things I already have. Companies don't need to pay content creators directly to influence the content, it's all about the access. The special dev interviews, the videos placed on the company website, and other special perks that big content creators get that invariably influence the content, whether it's the tone, the topics covered or not covered, etc. You know it's real because of all the perk receiving content creators who tell you repeatedly how getting perks doesn't influence them at all.

Come on, I love Diablo 2 a lot, I also love Dbrunski125's content, everything you share with us is amazing. I watch both you and Cooley videos and I'm glad your both proponents of free trade in D4. I'm not typically the type of person to be vocal on any sort of comments sections or forums, but I was originally pumped for Last Epoch until they 100% backtracked on free trading. I'm getting sick of the downward spiral of ARPGs into overly controlled garbage anymore. Last Epoch was supposed to represent what we wanted. I have never made a comment about Last Epoch in my life, but I am no longer going to purchase the game. If D4 does not have free trading, then I will quietly do the same and not purchase D4. I'm now just at the point where I need to speak out against these garbage hand holding ARPGs lately. I want free trading and zero hand holding. I used to play a little known ARPG that had no max character levels, very player driven game play and content discovery. Very little transparency which enforced the players to discover the game and figure out how to best use itmes and character builds to become godly. Most ARPGs now are hand holding garbage. Anyways, maybe some day these game creators will just make an ARPG with full open trading, unlimited character levels, and player driven discovery of game mechanics and builds. No more hand holding to crybabies.

going on your answer about terror zones in single player, there is a mod that makes it available in single player so its definitely possible for the dev to do it. The mod was out just a few days after the patch went live so I cant imagine it would be too difficult but it might be an online only feature but I think its supposed to come to non-ladder after this season.

@@pdrizzle8120 Tbh no it would not. They made more money with Diablo Immortal than they will ever do with D2, D3 and D4 combined. That is how the mainstream gaming industrie works nowadays. Microtransactions are the main source of income, not selling games. D2R is niche, even though it is huge for an 20 year old game, still niche and not profitable. They will make 50x more money with selling cosmetics in D4 than with actual selling the game. But yeah, I dream about that too.

With the large increase in Diablo 2 streamers do you have any opinions on the power gap? There is no way a solo Diablo player can keep up with the community support and game hours of even the smallest streamers. MFing, Preferred Trading, Players 8 support for 99. Any ideas on a solution to help individual farmers, or even encourage smaller groups of 2 -5 that they are 99 race, speed run, or even top 1000 ladder viable? (This is more of a devils advocate question. Just curious of you opinion).

Dbrunski isn’t a paid shill, it’s even worse than that. He was snatched off the streets and blind folded in the back of a van with no windows and taken to a remote cabin far in the wilderness and told he would be eaten alive by gigantic fire ants if he didn’t spend every millisecond of every video saying Diablo IV is going to be the greatest game of all time in all infinite universes. Spoiler alert : it’s not. I’ve been to Blizzard’s HQ and seen the source code for Diablo iv with my own eyes. The game engine is built upon a decompilation of ET for the Atari 2600, they then took every single line of code and made it worse than it already was. This is how dedicated blizzard is to making Diablo IV the worst game of all time, they said their biggest influence was a modified version of Russian roulette with a fully loaded revolver and try to make a game worse than that.

I agree with the take that restricted trade will destroy a big aspect of the game & likely will end up being the reason why Diablo 4 will end up not as replayable for me. It's one of the biggest reasons why I even play loot grinding isometric arpgs. Restricted loot makes meaningful loot drops for other classes that you're not playing/don't plan to play that season feel terrible. Whenever your one GG find for the week ends up being a meta progression item for another class that can't be traded away, so it's either charsi food or "4x legendary shards" that you can craft into useless early game legendary items, it's just really lame & destroys any motivation that I had to keep grinding. Happened in D3, will probably happen in D4. Sad. Luckily it doesn't seem like GGG will follow in the same footsteps & understand that trade/economy is a massive part of the online experience. My prediction is that PoE 2 will have more longevity than D4, just like it does now with PoE & D3. Blizzard never learns.

D4 will be D3 all over again, have lost interest in it almost completely. Competing against D2 is also kinda far fetched, people really does not understand how good D2 is, let alone when it was new. The only decision about D4 for me is: Is D4 pay to win? Blizz has proven untrustworthy on this front with DI. They were asked is DI pay to win? Answer: no. And it is. Disgustingly, insidiously, and completely pay to win. Blizz released D3 in a miserable state. Drops were so poor I could not complete Inferno mode without resorting to the 2012 version of pc pay-to-win. The auction house. The hated auction house. That’s twice they’ve tried to ride to the pay to win tiger. With Diablo. Why would D4 be any different? Remember. Kotic still squats Ghom-like on top of Blizz. I, too, get bored of D2R lD2 and D3. That’s why I play Titan Quest. I think we are up to 12 masteries to choose from. You choose 2, and sift through the loot to make your character powerful and survivable. The drawback is that the base game engine comes from 2006 or so. But it still is getting content made, most recently in 12 months ago. That’s long term longevity for a game!!! More people should check it out. Each of the 12 masteries is viable and the combinations allow for melee, ranged, spell caster, pet commander and hybrids of these, in every combination. And... you can learn to hate the very rare and extremely dangerous Toxeus too!

In your opinion, should all Sorceress Elemental Masteries be same for their corresponding Element, maybe even +4-5% [Fire/Cold/Lightning] Damage per Soft Point and maybe -2-3% to Enemies [Fire/Cold/Lightning] Resistance per Hard Point, or something like that? You dont get payed for reviews, but blizz pays for you to come out and see/play what they want your subs to see. That benefits you both, you get views, and blizz can put out a narrative they want. If you want that to keep happening for your channel, its best you dont put out scathing reviews or comments because if your gonna trash blizz, why would they keep inviting you? There is a major difference but i see why people think that you get payed for it

I'm usually NOT playing D2R at all. But then when I occasionally get the urge to play, I play a bunch for a few weeks or so. Then I'm back to not playing it at all. So it comes in big bursts for me. I love D1 as a single playthrough (not doing Endgame/Grind). I didn't like D3. But I think you bring up a great point that perspective is everything. I still enjoyed D3 more than TL/TL2, GD, and PoE. But I think I'm just really picky when it comes to ARPGs, so D1 and D2/D2R are the only ones that "make the cut", for me personally, based on my own tastes. Edit: And if it counts, BL2 for sure.

With over 400 hours in d2r last year I had to take a nice little hiatus and I found myself enjoying the game recently but I only play for short little bursts not long blocks like I used too. Appreciate your take and I am optimistic this game can deliver

You can just watch the gameplay of D4 and know it is way too similar to D3. They could make literally the greatest game of all time keeping like 70-80% of what D2 is

To get the true value out of runes like cham and zod because of its rarity, wouldn't it be good if you are able to cube the runes the other order? A zod become a 2 cham etc. Since blizzard are trying to get the runes more usefull..

For the trading for good weaps like what are you gonna trade with? There's no runes or currency system that makes sense for trading. Big missed opportunity by the dev team, will definitely be the downfall to d4
