Does Boubacar Kamara get back into the Aston Villa starting XI??

Kamara needs to play because he covers for Torres shortcomings and tielemans is better playing further forward as he has a knack of losing the ball in key areas, so if he plays further forward we are more likely to put things right

Great vid, mate. Think it’s the first one I have watched, of yours. Good to compare stats, it always interests me to see if the numbers match the eye test. More often than not the stats can make you question your instinct. I do also believe stats can create more problems if you are not careful. They can prevent you from thinking critically and box you in. As much as Kamara’s stats indicate he is not a progressive player and he only offers defensive attributes. However, the eye test tells me he has the capability to be more creative and influential with his progressive passes. His pass completion would decrease but I think he is more than able higher up the pitch! Anyhow, I am sure Unai intends to play Onana and Kamara together. They are 2 of our best players (or the 2 players with the most potential to be world class) and surely Unai has a system where they both play together. I am very interested to actually see what he does! Great vid and I have subscribed 👍🏻

Hello mate, thank you for the sub and comment! I really do appreciate comments like yours! I do agree, stats and eye test have to go hand in hand, Kamara is a rolls Royce but defo a 6 for me. I don’t think we spend £50m on Onana as just a 6 either, I’m sure the long term plan is that partnership with Onana playing a more Yaya Toure like role, marauding forward as he is so good at! I just think for now Kamara may have to be patient because Youri is playing that damn well! UTV 🦁

I'm sure Kamara has been left out of the Champions League squad for the first round, I see him being the guy who starts for Onana in the league games following the European night's, having just come back from a serious injury I doubt Emery will be too reliant on him just yet until he's back showing good form again, with Tielimens and Onana performing so well in the middle, Barkley would be the Tielimens sub and again likely to used more in cup games and against the likes of Ipswich, Southampton to give the other guys some rest. Maybe Bailey who came off early against Leicester has a spell on the sidelines and Buendia gets to battle with Jaden for minutes on the wing, again coming back from such a serious injury will be in no rush to be over reliant on him just yet either.. But some real quality options to pick and choose from these days, just wish it was as stacked in defence, but Mings closer and closer each day, will be a fantastic sight to see him back in a Villa shirt too.

Kamara has to start. He is world class. He's the reason Doug looked so good. Kamara is the only proper out and out 6 we have. Defensively excellent. Kamara's job is not to create goals. Onana and Kamara will play together. Onana is a hybrid 6/8. I do think Onana will be the box to box midfielder. Sorry to say, but I reckon Tielemans will play further forward, and it just might be SJM that loses out.

Emery doesn't seem too certain with what he wants at right back and we have a good defensive/progressive LB so why not try something crazy like 3-4-3 with booba dropping in on RB as wingers attack down our right?

He actually did drop bouba into cb previously as a third cb. Emery did this a number of times I saw kamara play live down at villa park. So you are not so far wide of the mark!

Seen a few suggestions of Bouba at CB, I could see us lining up 4-4-2 with Maatsen and Cash bombing forward and Bouba sitting into a bad 3 and allowing a middle 3/4 of Maatsen / Cash / Onana / SJM

You can never have to many good midfield players a nice problem to have against the big 6 he will start with both kamara & onana

I agree. Unai would not have got Onana, if he didn’t have a plan with them both playing. Kamara is one of the best 6’s in the prem. I also think Onana could play higher up the pitch. Kamara also has the passing ability and think Unai will work with him making him more influential with his progressive passes.
