One point i would like to share regarding AID given to india.... Well Indian govt has asked Britain long way back that we don't need AID from Britain .. but Britain still give AID to some NGOs in india.... Bcz through those NGO, they put some pressure on india... Like if india is building something then these NGOs will come for protest in the name of environment, pollution, farmers land etc ..

My grandfather had told me how Indians working for the British had to get an 'Official Certificate' made permitting them access to chair to be able to sit in front of a British Official. Signs like 'Dogs and Indians not allowed' were also pretty common in public places. I dont think most Indians hold any grudges against British now, however what bothers us is that the factual history has been removed from British Textbooks, The Empire is glorified and thus the acknowledgment is missing among the current British generation as well.

Great video, I think no Indian wants money from Britain nor it is discussed in Indian politics much. What most of us want is the British crown to acknowledge and apologise what their crown has done and return all the stolen historic artifacts to India (which is mostly in London museum), kohinoor diamond and correct their history books. That would be all. The next video suggestion from me would be "Azadi - A Tribute To India's Great Freedom Fighters".

I would say beyond an apology, part of the reparations has to be a return of the massive amount of historical artifacts belonging to India in British museums.
@isad625
@isad625 Жыл бұрын
Actually for reparations we don't need anything back from the UK, only some treasures and jewels that belongs to our Ancestors and which is a sense of pride for indians for example :- Sword of our king 'Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaja'.. Only we want back those kinds of treasures.. Apart from that we don't need anything back because we are capable of reforming India again.. India's Nominal GDP is more than UK.. India's GDP ppp is 3 times of UK.. India's Military is more Stronger than UK.. India's space agency is more stronger than UK space agency.. Geopolitically India has a bigger and more important place than the UK....after USA and China, India is 3rd most important country in the world.... So Already UK lags behind than us in all corners... So already we defeated UK in everything...

We don't want reparations because they can't give anything back but there is a museum in London all stolen Indian ancient historical artifacts needs to be returned to India. Second the catholic missionaries in the West are funding aggressive religious conversions in India by using NGO's as the main face . What i learnt about the thinking and the mindset of political elites in the West are they are very much in colonial mindset and ignorance is at highest level. So what ever we suffered that must be reached into your door step ,then only we become equals

Well, most Indians don't hold any grudges against the present Britons but we can't forget what they did. The Brits took away 45 trillion dollars from our country. Can you imagine?? It's double the GDP of the United States today. Imagine where India would've been and what India was before the Brits. The common British folk still feel proud about the British colonialism because the UK govt has very cleverly washed away that part of the colonial history which is the reality and continue to glorify the British Empire. That's where we Indians have a problem. You've got to acknowledge the wrongs that have been done and the Brits don't do that. Many of them still like to believe that they're above us when the reality is complete opposite. India has surpassed the UK in everything, every sector. India is UK's largest investor and Indian companies like TATA provide jobs to Britons. Imagine how the world has changed. We are soon going to the world's third largest economy while UK's economy is in a downward spiral and the country's credit has also fallen. Many fear that the UK will eventually become and emerging economy from a developed economy. That's the reality but many Brits don't like to acknowledge this and lie to themselves that they're the superior people. You said it right, history is written by the victors that's why we know Hitler is an evil person (which he really is) but we don't know that Winston Churchill killed more people than Hitler. Germany had one Hitler, UK had hundreds of Hitlers ranging from Robert Clive to Winston Churchill. Also, that British aid has been completely stopped by the govt now. We are the world's fifth largest economy. We don't need aid from that puny nation

One of the things I don't admire about Shashi is that he feels that only British looted and colonized India, but the real truth is that We Indians have subjugated too immense, misery not only by British but also by Islamic Mughal Invaders. Our Colonized history is about 800 years. As 20th-century American historian Will Durant wrote about medieval India, "The Islamic conquest of India is probably the bloodiest story in history. "He constantly forgets the fact how Mohmaad Ghori, Mohammad Ghazni destroyed our cities, libraries, temples (Ex: Somnath Temple), how they looted our wealth and would take thousands of women as sex slaves. In order to appease his voters in down Kerala where he is MP, he has neglected that fact.

We have lots of issues in our country & those issues needs to be criticized because criticism is necessary to acknowledge that issue and acknowledgement is the first step of solving any issue. But when i look back and see that how much we progressed in just 75 years of Independence despite so many challenges & without any reparation is astounding. There was insane amount of poverty & poverty brings diseases, crime, greed, corruption, communal hatred, social injustice & hundreds of other issues. But the fact that we didn't just survived that period without any reparation or outside help but also achieved great things whether it's space exploration, giving contribution in science and technology, medicine, being one of the strongest military, being one of the largest economy, being nuclear power country in just 75 years of independence is just insane. We are still fighting against poverty, Communal hatred and social injustice. But we have improved a lot in all of these areas if you compare it with when we got independence.

What i as a Indian, want from British is written and public apology for all the death and destruction, man made famines, massacres of unarmed people like jallianwala bagh massacre etc. One pound a year for next 200 years work just fine in repatriation, with the way their economy is going (stagflation) even 50 cents a year do just fine. India at one time was 35% of world GDP, the most richest and prosperous country and by end of this Century aka 2100 we should get close to be No 1 economy and retain back major chunk of whats lost, though i dont think getting to 35% is possible again, but if are 1/5 of humanity, then getting to 20% should be achievable, we dont aspire to superior or inferior to any, but claim whats rightfully ours. A famous American and British economist and historian calculated that under British rule, about $35 trillion Dollar of present day wealth was taken away from India, 1.5 times USA economy, and we were left as the poster boy of starvation and poverty when they left. But its ok, whats gone cant be undone and we should move on. and we have no hard feelings, but we do will expect all the Indian artifacts in British museum to be returned back someday. Maybe as India grows in future, British will be forced to return them due to our economic clout for their own self interest. India should and would have a large army so no more ever again in future.

Personal Opinion:- Colonies have not only suffered materialistically but also spiritually/culturally/emotionally. To put a number on the sufferings and losses people endured during colonial period is very disrespectful. I would instead prefer British to commemorate damages done to the colonies and send a letter of apology, annually, for next 200 years (because British rule over India lasted for almost the same duration). It will not only help heal the emotional damages but also act as a constant reminder of the negative consequences of colonialism.

42% of slovakians carries R1a haplogroup dna, which is originated in Indian subcontinent and diversified in western asia. Eastern europeans are somoehow our ancestral brothers and sisters. Genetic studies have proven it. Germanic tribes are very different than slavics. Their is so much similarities between bharatiya(indian) custom and traditions with slavics. Many of the slavic rivers have mentioned in rigveda. Which is the most ancient book in this planet. Sanskrit the mother language of most of the languages spoken today. Their was a famous qoute "World is one big family" in our scriptures. It simply means something deep that we couldn’t understand today. Maybe for that reason our ancestors never tried to conquer the world by violence even though we had vast GDP (34% of global gdp in gupta period). Indian subcontinent is like undiscovered treasure for human history.

i sort of agree with him that the monetory amount is of not any use since most of our ancestors are long gone who were the direct sufferers of british colonisation, but acknowledging the wrongs, learning from it and together with its earstwhile colonies seeing to it how history doesn't repeat itself so that the future generations can have a better and more evolved society goes a long way. Today's generation british is absolutely nothing to do with the crimes of there forefathers and they should have the pride of their identity and should never be guilty of it...BUT they should also realise and understand the mistakes that have been made by their forefathers and reach out to us as equals acknowledging and accepting the wrongs of the past AND seeing to it that the dark history doesn't repeat itself

Why don't Britain ask these persons , Who criticize British rule in India ? It was well know to all , that Britishers were very few in number not even 1-2 % of our Population , even after that they ruled for more then 200 years how . Why don't majority community revolt against British rule when they started suppressing Indian. It is wrong to say that Britisher did wrong with us , no I don't accept it. It was the Local Indian leaders who allowed Britisher to torture us in various ways . According me , I love Britishers as they thought us their language , which is helping us to communicate with rest of the world. Dividing India into two half on religious ground was the only reason ,why I think that this was the injustice to us .

This reperations thing used be a discussion some time back, bcz we have moved (I personally hate ranting Life isn't fair). However, now our focus is on DEVELOPMENT, just like china did but being a democracy ofcourse. I personally believe that your culture can be the best, but if you don't live as an entity, in unison, all that gr8 culture of yours if gonna get destroyed one day (like ours) by someone not as "great" as you. Today India follows one rule -- Be so strong that, noone can dare challange you, but use that power responsibly and for the greater good, like climate change

You got to save this comment for yourself , because what I'm going to say is very interesting. British don't teach their students the facts about colonialism. That's the main problem with Britain. And another thing you should know about DEI(Diversity, Equity and Inclusion) is that it is based on critical theory and other similar things like intersectionality. (You talked about it in the video, so i have to tell you). Such that its narrative about victimhood and oppression matrix are rooted in classical marxism, cultural marxism and post modernism. This is very deep, but i have to say that it is colloquially called the 'Woke Movement'. I have no problem in telling truth and sensitizing people to become more charitable towards other gender, race, ethnicity religion,etc.. , but it has other objectives other than this. It is the new religion which seeks to turn the tables upside down. It is based on group thinking but not individual, also it is embedded with moral relativism and moral subjectivism or moral absolutism at times as opposed to 'moral objectivism'. Constantly seeks for revolution similar to classical marxism to topple 'oppression' interms of gender, race, etc.. That's why the guilt of a white man is never ending. Just check a book called 'White Fragility' by Robin diangelo, you can make sense yourself. Like all Abrahamic religions, it sees world in a dichotomy such as followers(oppressed) and heathens(oppressors). It is a god-less religion also called as SJWism(Social Justice Warriors). Even there is redemption to the eternal sin in old religion but there is no redemption in new woke religion. White man is eternally damned in guilt(even though this individual is not responsible for crimes of past). I'm not supporting any tyranny. I'm myself Indian. But this is not the way(woke ideology) we built our culture and civilization. These people entered all institutions in the anglosphere, from which it propagates through. There are many things to it like sexual pervasiveness, mediocrity, etc.. which you can research on the internet. It may be unrelated to the video, but this is very interesting.

@Zuzana Reacts indians don NOT have any strong feeling against the west, certainly NOT against the western people. But the guilty were the elite and nobility and aristocratic landed classes. Those people are still a headache for india and asia, funding pxtn to create taliban to fight proxy wars against india in kashmir and xinjiang and afghanisan against the russians (who had brought in a lot of modernization and women were educated and westernized under Soviet rule) . So we have to be mindful of the imperialist elite in the west, but indians do not certainly want to be anti western people (who are mostly not even racist anymore) .

In any case, today India's GDP is 5th while UK is 6th now. What's more noteworthy is that by Purchasing Power Parity we are the 3rd highest in the world. This simply means how strong the Indian rupee is as far its purchasing power is concerned. People often confuse PPP with the currency index. which is wrong. PPP means what would an Indian pay for any given unit product e.g. a bottle of packaged drinking water in India in comparison to other countries. And now the de-dollarization of the world is also due to the acceptance of the Indian rupee for trade between 34 countries and India. And still we are adding more countries to the list. The US via its SWIFT network would earn commissions from both the sender and the receiver country. And then this is used as a punishment tactic via sanctions to countries which ruffle America's feathers. Our Unified Payment Interface (UPI) did away with this bullshit and now the Indian rupee can be used in 34 countries to make purchases. That's the reason Biden is shitting bricks while American Banks are going bankrupt one by one due to over printing of the dollar which simply adds to the fiscal deficit of the US.

Britishers just didn't looted us they have massacre thousands of people, partitioned our Akhand Bharat, widen inequalities by using religions. In british history winston churchill is some kind of hero but in India what he has done can't be just forgive by saying sorry. If churchill is hero for british or Europe then so is Hilter for what he has done, Hilter actually helped Subhash Chandra Bose to get an army of POW to fight british in INDIA.
