A massively brave test to do guys. I spent many years when our two sons were young as a Driving Instructor in Leicester UK. Now that was back in the late 1980s to early 1990s. My oldest still works in the city as an ICU Nurse and has only recently passed his UK driving test. I used to call Leicester the Road Rage Capital of the World (I’m now in Norfolk (Great Yarmouth) and happily married to my second Wife. We both ride e bikes as well and even when I am driving I have to say the roads down here are less full of aggressive and nasty drivers. We get some but in Leicester driving an AMI with a top speed of around 30MPh would get you raged at by other drivers. Even when my pupils were doing 30MPh in a 30MPh zone other drivers were tail gating them, flashing them, sounding their horns at them and now and then somebody got out to start a fight. My oldest Son tells me the place has got worse over the years and possibly drivers are now even more impatient and aggressive. So what you have done is remarkably brave.

Great video guys, entertaining and fun. It seems most drivers were pretty accepting of Elton. It will be interesting to see if the Ami has more power in the UK. The Citroen website here says max speed 28mph with a 43 mile range. Lovely to see the villages in your video too. :-)

Have you seen Out of Spec Reviews test drive of a "Tuned Ami Unleashed" for what appears to a possible American version? It's called 'Pure Bliss! I Drive The Endearing Citroën Ami For The First Time"? The Citroen rep says that with just a software change they can nearly double the power to 15hp and speed to 50mph (80kph). But the software is protected from user hacking. If I could get an Ami, I'd likely just swap the factory controller for an aftermarket 12,000 watt controller and parallel couple or three of 3.2v 100 amp-hour Lithium-iron cells in sires to boost the AMI Battery for a bit more voltage and range. If you used a controller with field weakenign at high speed you'd 50mph or more should be possible.

The Open Road. It was great to see just how politely people stacked up behind - nobody on anyones tail. The Ami is certainly not for Tasmania!! Tailgaters everywhere - even at the 100kph speed limit. There is no history of slow vehicles here apart from "Bloody cyclists". A review video - I would like to see that.

The Ami would be perfect for 95% of my driving. I live in a small city, and usually put on around 5,000 km / year. That's under 14 km / day. There is a 60 km/h road that I can easily bypass, and all the other city streets are at 50 km/h.

But she had an excuse - probable dementia - ( now being "asessed" ). Thankfully no major damage done - just one shunt between two other drivers - must have been very scarey!!

If this car was modified to increase the speed by 25% that would make it 36.125 mph or 57.9 km/h which is acceptable for suburban driving. Of course it needs more power to accelerate better and better suspension so that it can safely handle corners.

The Citroen Ami cause road rage? Impossible! It causes spontaneous smiles wherever it goes! Kind of like you and Mr. Boo do too... In the USA, there is a rule, at least in some states there is, that if there are 5 or more cars "following you," you must get off the road at the nearest opportunity to let them pass you (that's the rule in California). Even in Germany there is a rather nebulous traffic rule which says that a slow moving vehicle, which causes a "column of cars" to form behind it, must pull over at the "nearest, safest" opportunity and let them pass.

Do you have insurance of your vehicle? If not, what do you do in case of an accident. Who pays for medical bills or if you are sued? There were plenty of places you could pull of the road if a person wanted to get out of the way. But it was a good show of the AMI and traffic. Would love to have one here in Seattle, as the speed limits in the "whole city off the freeways" are pretty much 25 mph. Be nice if Citroen would "expand" the AMI to where it was a bit bigger and could go at least 50 mph or 80 Kph. Then people in the suburbs could get one to run around in.

I think the Ami is an interesting EV. I think the rules should have a loophole, to allow more power if available, to go faster uphill. Citroen Ami has way more power available in the drive train, but it's limited by software. You don't save (much) energy climbing slower. You just spend more time using the energy to climb. My suggestion for L6e class quadricycles: May apply more than 4 kW, as long as: - speed is no more than 45 km/h - acceleration in less than 2 km/h per second Main purpose is to allow more power if available, not for acceleration, but just to maintain more speed, to better keep up with traffic.

@@MeandMonAmi not just France, but for EU Framework Directive 2002/24/EC. That's the EU Vehicle Classifications. France just has an exception for licens requirements for L6e I think the regulations are outdated, but I guess it will take some time, but with EVs it's easier to implement it in the controller.

A Good Computer Programer could increase the speed of the Ami to 56mph. Only problem would be your Battery would run out in half the time. It was interesting to see and know how People react to the Ami's speed. I watched a Fifth Gear Review of the Ami. At one point they were turning a corner at 10mph and the Ami tipped sideways onto two wheels. Have either of you experienced that.

The motor can easily do 70. It’s pegged at that speed for one reason only: So it can be sold without a licence in France. It honestly works absolutely fine for us here but as I said in my 4k review it has to work for your use case

dude, you're so stressed out..don't mind!.. look at mr.boo, how calm he is.. you should be like him.. stop thinking about the cars behind you, make sure their average speed is as much as yours.. please allow me to give you an idea; If you want to go a little faster and a little more economically, I recommend inflating your tires a little more than normal. so you reduce the "rolling resistance" of the wheels. With your car, you will feel the surface of the road more and your road comfort will decrease a little, but your acceleration and economy will increase. If the people who are angry with you knew the size of the engine that powers the ami, I'm sure they would swallow their little tongues of surprise.. I can't understand the folly of walking around in city traffic with a car with a 700 hp engine.. The ami is a "developable and customizable" city car. It's not a bike, nor is it a car, but it's in a whole other class. I don't understand those who complain that "we are cold" in winter.. You can put a portable battery (inverter) that you charge at home on the back of the seat or at the foot of the seat, and from this source, you can heat your seat and even the interior of the car very easily. (campers use this inverter frequently) even if you have to, you can charge your car with a "portable generator" of suitable power in places where there is no electricity.. The usefulness of 48 volts.. mr.boo.... Why can't we see you driving?..
