For over 10 years I have been taking statin following a surgical intervention to unblock an artery. Recently I had begun to to feel that legs were faltering due to muscle weaknesses. My doctor told me that it was due to statin intake. Bad news was that there is no suitable alternative to statin. He advises me to take COQ 10 which I did. Two days later my problem was solved and I am happily on my feet and I can walk longer distances with much ease. COQ10 helped in my case.

I saw on Ning a nurd video that coq10 is important electron carrier in the electron transport chain, which produces a lot of atp without it the etc don’t work to good. Coq10 is produced in the same pathway that makes cholesterol from carbohydrates . Statins block this pathway and hinder the production of coq10 if this ain’t true please correct me . Thank you

I'm 57 and for years my cholesterol was high (around 240). My doctor was always threatening to prescribe a statin and I assumed that eventually I would have to start taking one and so I went ahead and started taking CoQ10. But, around a year ago, I REALLY started trying to lose some weight and I finally managed to do it. I've lost at least 50 pounds and my cholesterol is now around 165. My question is simple. Should I keep taking the CoQ10 or can I drop it since I probably average walking around 4 miles a day and do a little weight lifting several times a week? I guess I'd like to drop it because I'm a cheapskate and I don't want to take anything I don't really need. I currently only take supplements (CoQ10, multivitamin, fish oil and Neuriva). Does anyone have any thoughts?

So you recommend taking a natural supplement to limit the damage caused by pharmaceutical drugs? People should really get clued up about the dangers of taking statins.

I really wonder how I had so many ancestors who lived into their 90s and several over 100 with one who lived to 108. They had none of these drugs and ate what was produced locally. So why do we need all these drugs now?

I started taking a CoQ10 supplement about two months ago because of sore muscles. At first it didn't seem to have much effect, but after a couple weeks the soreness ebbed away. I take 100mg in the morning, and 100mg in the evening. Seems to be working.

co Q10 ( Ubiquinol ) helps maintain all of our cells and our own production starts dropping off after about 50 years of age, so it's worth taking regardless of Statins as we age. Ubiquinol is the best form and ready for the body to use, that's why it's more expensive than Ubiquinon which we have to convert and lose some in the process. The only way to find out if Co Q10 helps is to start taking it, even if it doesn't help with the Fibro it is still doing your body some good.

Majority of side effects with statins are placebo effect. Recent studies indicate that. Co Q 10 levels may be lower in Statin patients as well as CHF but supplementation with CoQ10 has no proven benefit.

@@stx7389 new studies has found that people who take statins had no differences in muscle symptoms than people who didn’t take statins. There may be a strong “nocebo effect” - people expect to experience muscle pain, and then because of that, they begin to experience muscle pain. More research is needed to understand the root cause.
