Brockman is nuts if he thinks running out a new QB every five years is a sound business model. If the first guy is actually good, you won't be able to draft a top replacement because your draft position will be too high. So to move up to that top-2 or top-3 spot, you mortgage years of first-round draft picks like the Niners did to get Trey Lance. Two seasons in, Lance has missed so many games that the Niners don't even know if he can play. It's a moronic thought; and I'm dumber myself for taking the time to debunk it.

As a Giants fan I think this season was the ceiling for DJ - and that ceiling was 15 TDs (plus 7 rushing) and 3 games of +230yrds and a guy that struggles to go through his progressions. Mahomes doesn't need to be the highest paid because, if he doesn't already, he will make more money from sponsorships than his NFL contract - like Brady. Daniel Jones isn't going to get National TV commercials for the next two decades. His NFL payday is all he has, lol. The question should be, with "insert name" as QB, how much must I spend to build a team that "insert name" will be able to win a championship with? That must be the deciding factor, whether or not you think any particular guy is "worth" a dollar figure. They're not getting paid in a vacuum. There was a time when the Cowboys could have signed Dak Prescott for 24 ~ 27 million per year. Front office thought it was too high and dragged their feet. Delay cost them even more. That's assuming they Giants want to keep Jones. If they do sign now. If you tag him the market will get even higher and 45 million will become a bargain. It feels like just yesterday that Derek Carr reset the QB market by getting 5 years, 125 million in 2017. Now that would be a 2 year contract with 90 mil guaranteed lol. In 2027 Guys are going to be getting 65mil cap hits left and right. Ridiculous
