Last time I checked nobody is paying Chris Brockman to make any personnel decisions. Who’s the QB in New England right now. Better yet who’s the Offensive Coordinator? If DJ played for them he’d be singing his praises. Only threw 15 TDs? What about that time Max Jones threw the ball for 10 yards in a game!!! Go look it up it happened and they won. So he wasn’t complaining. When you have your guy you pay him. Daniel Jones is our guy take it or leave it.

The point is the option of letting DJ go puts the organization back into QB carousel/hell after it just had its worst stretch of football in franchise history finally come to a close. No one wants that who is a true fan of their football team. The devil you know is better than the one you don't. And the money being tossed at skill position players is always stupid. Yelling that they're paying him 160 million for one awesome game out of 50 is paled by the fact you could pave a freeway for that money but you're giving it to a guy to throw a ball. And its done all the time. that's the value system of our society. I wouldn't be angry about that and yet have my desk full of paraphernalia of expensive fans items designed to sell at high rates to pay for those excesses.

Brockman acts like Jones stats were terrible this year but they're better than Lamar and Jones had a worse supporting cast. Lamar Jackson 2022 stats: 2200 yrds passing 750 yards rushing 20 total tds 7 picks 4 fumbles Daniel Jones: 3200 yrds passing 700 rushing 22 total tds 5 picks 2 fumbles Jones got paid a little more than Derek Carr. Not much more than Geno Smith. He's younger, more athletic and won a road playoff game, which he dominated, in his contract year. Brockman just seems pissed off that this the going rate for QBs, which just comes of as kinda petulant and annoying.

The giants had $50M in dead cap space this year, plus another $20M towards the ghost of Kenny Golladay. That’s 35% of their cap space taken up by players who didn’t contribute to the team whatsoever. And they still won a playoff game. $70M unused. Paying Jones $40M isn’t going to make them worse.

Then the Jaguars gave him a new contract after that season. If the Giants don't win that playoff game I doubt Jones gets this deal. The Giants have potentially screwed themselves for years and it's all the Vikings' fault. If Minnesota didn't have the fluke season to end all fluke seasons then New York faces a real playoff team in the wild card round, gets destroyed, and Jones doesn't get anywhere close to this deal.
